AMI Citroen Electric Cars Urban
Citroën revamps the Ami to give it a more modern look
Although it looks like a completely new vehicle, the changes actually affect only the exterior, while the same technical specifications are retained.
Four and a half years after the Ami hit the market, the French manufacturer has surprised us with a redesign of this quadricycle, with which Citroën has tried to revolutionise urban mobility, offering an agile and, above all, a tremendously affordable price transport alternative.
As can be seen in the images accompanying this article, the new Ami sports a much bolder and more youthful “look“, with new front and rear grilles and curious details on the front wings that give it a much more modern appearance, as well as new headlights that protrude from the front rather than being integrated into the grille as in the previous model.

According to Citroën, these new headlights aim to evoke the spirit of the classic Citroën 2CV. A nod to the past in a much more modern vehicle, a approach that is already fairly common among French manufacturers, with launches such as the new Renault 5 and Renault 4 electric models.
The new Ami leaves no one indifferent
But the novelties in this renewed Citroën Ami don’t end there, with the integration also of new, eye-catching wheel trims with cubic motifs that will surely attract plenty of attention. It is not yet clear, however, how they will look with the vehicle in motion, since so far we only have static images available.

Turning to the interior, there are few changes, if any, just as with the vehicle’s technical specifications. Classified as an L6 quadricycle, in Spain the Ami can be driven by 15-year-olds and older with a moped licence, as it is a light vehicle with a top speed limited to 45 km/h. The renewed Ami also keeps the same 5.5 kWh battery pack, with which it is possible to cover around 75 km per charge. Charging power remains limited to 3.6 kW, allowing a full charge from a conventional Schuko socket in under 4 hours.

Citroën has been selling the Ami in Spain from 7,990 euros, and this updated model is expected to keep the price of the previous model’s versions, making it one of the most affordable alternatives on the market for everyday urban journeys.
