Cupra e-Racer: makes its track debut with 680 CV of power
The Cupra e-Racer has completed its first track tests. The car will compete in the E TCR series and has the honor of being the world’s first electric racing saloon.
A few months ago, Cupra unveiled its new e-Racer, an electric racing vehicle based on the Leon Cup Racer that will compete in the E TCR series. For the first time we have been able to see in action this electric monster of competition, and it feels like it will be able to go very fast according to the performance announced by the sub-brand of Seat in a video.
First tests in Croatia

The e-Racer’s first dynamic debut took place at a Zagreb circuit (Croatia). During the test day, several elements were put to the test at the same time for the first time: a series of electric components, the battery pack, the cooling systems and the electric motor.

Performance: up to 680 CV of power
The Cupra e-Racer features a 65 kWh battery which in turn has 6,072 cells, equivalent to 9,000 mobile phones. The car’s 100 % electric propulsion system delivers 402 CV of power, with peaks of up to 680 CV. Thanks to this performance, the Cupra e-Racer can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and reach 200 km/h in 8.2 seconds from a standstill.

Same chassis as the Cupra Leon TCR
The e-Racer’s chassis is based on the same one used by the Cupra Leon TCR that competes in the WTCR (World Touring Car Cup). The e-Racer is the first 100 % electric saloon that complies with the E TCR championship regulations, the first multi-brand electric touring car championship in which this electric vehicle will compete.

“With the CUPRA e-Racer we want to take racing to the next level. We believe we can help reinvent motorsport and achieve great success. Motorsport is one of the pillars of CUPRA, and we are proud of the team making this electric racing car possible,” says Seat in a statement.
