CUPRA Terramar, this is the new model from the Spanish high-performance brand

The high-performance brand that has split from SEAT has presented several models, but the CUPRA Terramar will be the first one that is fully CUPRA

CUPRA Terramar, el nuevo SUV de la marca de alto rendimiento española

SEAT developed several CUPRA models over the last few years, although recently this sub-brand broke away from SEAT and started its journey on its own, just as other brands have done in different countries. Recently we knew that CUPRA was going to launch up to seven models by 2021, but we knew little more about the brand’s plans. Until now, when we have the opportunity to see the first 100% CUPRA model.

The CUPRA Terramar will be a mid-size SUV, very close to the SEAT Ateca, although it will have many elements based on the SEAT Tarraco. After the CUPRA Ateca, the CUPRA Terramar will be the first model to be launched under the brand, so it is important. An image has leaked that may be the final model, which will be ready in 2020, and which will kick off the reign of this high-performance brand.

This SUV, which has been talked about for some time, will have many similarities with the SEAT Tarraco, although its overall look will be more dynamic and aggressive, as befits a vehicle within the high-performance brand. The headlights and grille are very similar to those of the SEAT Tarraco, although the bumper has a more aggressive and sporty design.

The roof is somewhat more pronounced than on the SEAT model, and the wheel arches are more defined than on the car it is based on. If we go by the known data for this model, it will be powered by the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine capable of delivering a power of 296 CV used in the SEAT Ateca. If we continue to believe the revealed data, a plug-in hybrid option may be available later on.

The CUPRA Terramar will probably have a more moderate version within the SEAT range. If so, the engines of the SEAT version may be the same engines offered by CUPRA, but we assume it will not compete with the high-performance brand’s model. Meanwhile, we will keep seeing more details about this model, which uses the name of the Sitges-Terramar circuit, a classic within Spanish motoring.
