Dallara EXP, the wildest, track-only version of the Stradale

The Italian manufacturer has turned its flagship car, the Stradale, into a model meant to be enjoyed on the track, with equipment specific to the circuit.

If we already loved the Dallara Stradale, now it’s time to welcome the Dallara EXP. This is an even more intense version of the Italian supercar we already knew. The thing is, this version is designed for the driver to enjoy on the track and is not homologated for road use. At least, not at first.

The Dallara EXP is built on a carbon fibre monocoque chassis, exactly like its twin brother. The bodywork is made of the same material, although it is not capable of supporting the weight of the Stradale’s windscreen and roof. For that reason, the track model has a weight of just 890 kg.

Designed for the circuit

Although its design is very similar to the model it is based on, the engineers have worked so that this model offers better aerodynamics and outstanding handling while driving. To achieve this, a larger rear wing has been added, which improves its behaviour. There are also larger front air intakes and a more pronounced splitter.

The downforce it is capable of generating reaches 1,245 kg when it hits its top speed of 290 km/h. The suspension has been replaced with a double wishbone layout on both axles. The three-way dampers help maintain control on the track, thanks to the driver’s ability to adjust them to their needs. The Pirelli tyres also help achieve the spectacular figures the model offers.

As for the engine, it features the same unit as the other version. It is the 2.3-litre, 4-cylinder EcoBoost block that was going to equip the Ford Focus RS, although it has been modified with the help of Bosch to increase its power to 493 CV and a maximum torque of 700 Nm. This represents 98 CV and 200 Nm more than the road model.

The production of these add-ons means they can be fitted to the Stradale, so owners of the model will be able to have both versions by changing the configuration. In this way, they can enjoy the Stradale on the road and tune it for an almost unique track experience.

The price of the Dallara Stradale is 163,000 euros, so it is expected that the Dallara EXP will not fall below 200,000 euros.
