Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170: a farewell with more than 1,000 CV under the hood

The American manufacturer has unveiled a special, limited edition of its legendary Challenger as a farewell to its combustion-engined version

With the arrival of its first 100% electric version drawing ever closer, Dodge has decided to present a final special edition of its iconic Challenger, bringing out the model’s most characteristic traits with a flood of power to turn it into a genuine beast in the quarter mile.

Its name is Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 and, although it doesn’t draw excessive attention at first glance, it packs no less than 1,025 CV under its hood, sending power directly to the rear wheels, making it one of the most powerful and radical versions of the model to date.

A fairly discreet demon

Starting with its design, the Demon 170 is offered in 14 colours for its bodywork, which can be combined with several black details such as the bonnet, roof, boot and rear spoiler.

One of its most striking features is its enormous rear wheels. They are not conventional tyres like the ones we are used to seeing, but Mickey Thompson ET Street R tyres in 315/50 R17 sizes, designed to absorb the immense power of its supercharged V8.

Inside, everything has been designed to reduce weight without losing an ounce of sportiness, so Dodge offers the option of removing the interior carpeting or the soundproofing. However, for those seeking a more “practical” use, it also offers heated and ventilated front seats upholstered in leather, or even a sound system signed by Harman Kardon.

Moving on to performance, the key to this beast, Dodge has decided to fit a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine that develops no less than 1,025 CV at 6,500 rpm and 1,280 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. With these figures, the Demon 170 is capable of going from 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in an impressive 1.66 seconds and completing the quarter mile in 8.91 seconds, figures worthy of a supercar in capital letters.

Production will be limited to 3,300 units exclusively for North America, starting at a price of around 90,000 euros at current exchange rates, so we are sure they will all sell quickly.
