Dongfeng begins sales in China of "the most aerodynamic electric saloon in the world"
Everything points to the new electric saloon possibly also reaching the European market after its launch in China.
The Chinese carmaker Dongfeng has presented a new electric saloon under its Forthing brand, called the Xinghai S7. And this is no ordinary model, since according to the manufacturer it is the most aerodynamic production electric vehicle in the world. The Xinghai S7 is available on the Chinese market in three different versions, with prices ranging from 119,800 to 139,800 yuan. At the current exchange rate, that is roughly between 15,300 and 17,855 euros.
This new electric saloon stands out, as mentioned, for its drag coefficient, which the company puts at just 0.191. This places it ahead of the XPENG Mona M03, its main rival, which has a slightly higher coefficient of 0.194. The aerodynamic design of the Xinghai S7 is complemented by details such as flush door handles and low-drag wheel covers, with 19 or 20-inch wheels. Despite its generous dimensions, at 4,935 mm in length and a wheelbase of 2,915 mm, the boot offers a slightly smaller capacity than that of its most direct rival, at 541 litres.

As for its technical specifications, it features a single electric motor delivering 160 kW of power on the rear axle and 310 Nm of torque, powered by a 56.8 kWh LFP battery pack. The manufacturer promises 555 km of CLTC range on a single charge, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.67 seconds. Additionally, although this is not confirmed, it is rumoured that, following the current trend in the Chinese market, an EREV version, an electric model with a range extender, could also go on sale in the near future.
Other details about this electric saloon you should know
The interior of the Xinghai S7, meanwhile, is available in two colours to choose from: Oriental White or Celestial Twilight Black. Inside, there is a 15.6-inch central screen, alongside an 8.8-inch instrument cluster display. Both run on the Xinghai OS operating system, which supports voice and gesture commands.

Finally, it should be noted that after its launch in China, this electric saloon could also end up reaching Europe. Forthing has shown interest in the European market on several occasions, taking part in the IAA in Munich and obtaining EU certifications, with export plans to various countries. Dongfeng, for its part, has also announced the expansion of its Voyah and Mhero brands into Germany, clearly demonstrating an intention to consolidate its position on the European continent, so it would not be surprising if we saw this electric saloon on European roads before long.
