Fisker Ocean, the electric SUV that accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds

It will still be a little over two years before it reaches the market, but Fisker is already revealing some details of the SUV, such as its prodigious acceleration and power

For several months now we have been reading and hearing about the Fisker Ocean, an electric SUV that wants to be part of the electrification race in the international market. So it is no surprise that, although it will not be ready to compete with its rivals until 2022, the company has already shown some of its attributes so that we know what to expect when it finally arrives at dealerships.

To begin with, we have found out its dimensions. It is an SUV with a length of 4,640 mm, a width of 1,930 mm and a height of 1,615 mm. We do not know the wheelbase, but the brand assures us that it will comfortably accommodate five passengers on long journeys without any problems. Its proportions place it in the same category as competitors such as the Mercedes EQC, the Mustang Mach-E and the Jaguar I-Pace.

The boot is generous, with a capacity of 566 litres with the parcel shelf in place, rising to 708 litres if the load space is used up to the roof. With the rear seats folded down, capacity increases to 1,274 litres. To further increase load capacity, the Fisker Ocean will feature roof rails and a towbar, although the towing capacity of the model has not been made public.

As for drivetrain, it will launch with a two-wheel-drive option, but there will also be 4WD versions, which will enhance the model’s off-road capabilities. The first of these will offer 225 kW, equivalent to 300 CV, while the high-performance version will have 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just under 3 seconds. The power of this version will not be offered until 2021.

The 85 kWh battery can be charged from 15 to 80% in just 30 minutes, which means a range of 322 kilometres. To charge, the model is equipped with a CCS Type 2 Combo charger. We also know it will come with 20-inch alloy wheels, although there will be an option for 22-inch wheels.

Inside, we find a 16-inch multimedia screen and a 9.8-inch screen for the instrument cluster, which is complemented by a head-up display projected onto the windscreen. Augmented reality features, touch-sensitive buttons and immersive digital experiences are also part of the model’s technological equipment.

We will learn more technical details at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, and production is expected to begin in 2021 so that it is ready in 2022.
