Geneva Show 2012: Peugeot

The Peugeot 208 has been the car that has attracted the most attention from the French brand during this 2012 Geneva Motor Show, which has a better finish than the 207. In addition, alongside it, the 208 GTI and 208 XY concepts have been displayed, which reveals Peugeot’s intention to enter the Premium world.
The 208, on its own, looks very good, with a finish considerably better than the 207. Its size will be slightly smaller than its predecessor, although it will offer more interior space, above all in the rear seats. As for engines, they will feature a 1.0 VTi with 68 CV and a 1.6 e-HDi with 115 CV, both with three doors.
The 208 GTI is Peugeot’s proposal to make a comeback in the small sports car segment. It will feature a good 1.6 THP engine with 200 CV under its bonnet, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. The car on display, as seen in the photos, has 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome twin exhaust outlets and a more aggressive front grille.

For its part, the XY embraces the Premium approach, with an excellent finish, high-quality leather and handcrafted stitching. It also features a panoramic roof. Externally, it has 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels and chrome trim, among other things. It will be powered by a 1.6 e-HDI engine with 115 CV, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
Also at the Geneva Show is Peugeot’s SUV, the 4008, measuring 4.34 metres in length. This vehicle will be offered with four different engines, although only the two diesel variants will reach Europe. There will be two petrol engines: a 1.6 with 116 CV and a manual gearbox, and a 2.0 with 150 CV that can be specified with either a manual or an automatic gearbox.
As for diesel, it will feature a 1.6 HDi with 112 CV and a 1.8 HDi with 150 CV, both with a six-speed manual gearbox, one more gear than the petrol engines. All these engines, except the 2.0 petrol, will come equipped with the Stop&Start system to reduce consumption.
