GMC Hummer EV Electric Cars SUV
Hummer EV SUV: this is the prototype for the model that will arrive in 2023
At a recent event organised by GMC, the most functional prototype of the Hummer EV SUV was shown. It will be ready in 2023 and is very similar to the pick-up

The first units of the Hummer EV Pick-up are already reaching their owners, but GM is not content with this and wants to offer another version of the popular vehicle. It will arrive in 2023 and will take the form of an SUV. Although it will keep the main features of the pick-up, it will have others that bring it closer to the shape of an efficient SUV. Of course, with all the power of a Hummer.
During a recent demonstration in Arizona, both variants could be seen up close: the pick-up and the SUV. Although the first already has its shape and characteristics well defined, the second still has to undergo some changes before it is fully operational. Even so, as we can see in the images published by Carscoops, this model is already almost ready to go into production.

Shorter but just as efficient
The Hummer EV SUV measures slightly less than the pick-up variant. Specifically, it is 508 millimetres shorter. Its turning circle is set at 10.8 metres, which makes it quite efficient. Its ground clearance is somewhat greater than that offered by the pick-up, with a maximum of 406 millimetres. The suspension travel is 330 millimetres and it is expected to be very practical on rough and difficult terrain.
Other off-road features include adaptive suspension, the CrabWalk function and 22-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch Pirelli all-terrain tyres. For the more adventurous, an Extreme Off-Road package will be available, adding lower-section protectors and a camera that offers 17 different views. In this configuration the wheels are smaller and measure 18 inches, although the tyres remain 35 inches.
A similar but different image
The Hummer EV SUV offers the same front end as the other variant, although the differences are apparent at the rear. Obviously, the load area is covered and the bumper has been redesigned to give a different look. With the rear seats folded down, a cargo capacity of 2,316 litres is achieved, although there are other storage spaces in the lower part of the boot and at the sides.
The cabin area is identical to the pick-up and keeps its design. As for the electric motor and battery, version 1, which will launch in 2023, will feature at the top of the range three electric motors delivering a maximum output of 619 kW, that is, 842 CV. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h will be 3.5 seconds. The battery, for its part, will offer a range of 480 kilometres.
Lighter variants will arrive, with dual motor and even a range of 400 kilometres, but that will be from 2024 onwards. For now, GM has registered just over 60,000 reservations for the Hummer EV SUV, so the evolution of this model is expected to continue and alternatives to suit all tastes should be available.
