Hyundai has expanded its B-segment SUV range with the new Hyundai Bayon, which is positioned as the smaller sibling of the Hyundai Kona and shares many elements with the Hyundai i20, although with a crossover design and greater cabin capacity.

The price the Korean brand has presented for the new Hyundai Bayon ranges from 19,490 euros up to 29,020 euros for the version with the most powerful engine and the best finish.

In the B-SUV segment, where the new Bayon is positioned, heavyweights such as the Citroën C3 Aircross, the successful SEAT Arona, the Peugeot 2008, the Kia Stonic or the Skoda Kamiq, among others, can be found.

Design full of personality

Its platform is the same as that of the new i20. The new Bayon has the same wheelbase, but it is longer, wider and taller. Its ground clearance is 180mm, a measurement well known to most SUVs on the market, and it offers good habitability and a generous boot of 410 litres.

Entry to the new Hyundai Bayon range features a 1.2 naturally aspirated engine producing 84 CV with a manual gearbox. This engine can be equipped with the basic Essence finish, which includes as standard automatic lights, air conditioning, cruise control and lane change assist, emergency braking and steel wheels. Its price starts from 19,490 euros.

The other finish level available for the less powerful engine is the Maxx, which adds to the systems included in the Essence finish a parking sensor and rear camera, a USB charger and a multimedia system with an 8-inch screen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Its price goes from 21,265 euros.

Three different engines

The next available engine is the 1.0 TGDI: a turbocharged 3-cylinder engine with 100 CV of power. This engine can be fitted with the Essence finish mentioned above, the Maxx finish or the Tecno finish, which features automatic air conditioning, driving mode selector, rain sensor, blind spot assist, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, wireless charging, keyless entry, gloss black grille and a glovebox in the central armrest.

The price of this 1.0 TGDI with the Essence finish starts from 20,490 euros, for the Maxx version from 22,565 euros and for the Tecno version from 24,565 euros.

There is also the option of fitting a 48-volt mild-hybrid system to the 1.0 TGDI engine, thereby earning the DGT’s ECO label. There will be two versions: one with 100 CV and another with 120 CV.

The Hyundai Bayon with the 1.0 TGDI 100 CV engine and the 48 V mild-hybrid system with the Maxx finish starts from 23,815 euros, and with the Tecno finish from 25,815 euros.

Hyundai also offers the option of a dual-clutch 7-speed automatic gearbox for the next three options we will discuss.

Hyundai Bayon 2

The Bayon with the 1.0 TGDI 100 CV engine already mentioned and the DCT automatic gearbox combined with the Maxx finish starts from 24,805 euros, and with the Tecno finish rises to 26,805 euros.

More power and equipment for the top version

To conclude the Hyundai Bayon 2021 range, we have the same 1.0 TGDI engine, but in this option it delivers 120 CV instead of the 100 CV found in its other trims. It also features the 48 V mild-hybrid system and the 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. In this version, however, we can only equip the Style 2C finish, which adds a leather-trimmed gear lever knob, two-tone bodywork, active lane-keeping system, front parking sensors, an infotainment screen increased to 10.25 inches, and navigation and Bluelink.

The price for this top-of-the-range version starts from 29,020 euros.

Hyundai Bayon 7

If you are thinking of getting one, Hyundai offers the possibility of up to 5,200 euros off the base prices if you trade in a car and finance under the brand’s conditions.
