Koenigsegg is back in form: new record in the 0-400-0 km/h for the Swedish firm
Koenigsegg is back at war with the Regera, a hypercar that has broken a new record in the 0-400-0 km/h and puts Bugatti in its sights.

We have told you on countless occasions: the segment of super sports cars and hypercars is in a constant war. After Bugatti announced its new speed record, it was easy to guess that its main rivals would not stand idly by. Koenigsegg’s response to the French house’s title has already arrived and, although they did not seek to regain the title of fastest production vehicle in the world, they have achieved another feat worthy of admiration. The Regera has set a new record in the 0-400-0 km/h, demonstrating a surprising ability to reach that speed and come to a stop again.
This is not only a clear reflection of the impressive performance of Koenigsegg’s favourite son, but also of impeccable safety. When a vehicle is capable of reaching such high speeds, it also needs braking capacity to match, a pairing included in the formula used to bring the Regera to life.
The Koenigsegg hypercar features a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, supported by three electric motors. The result of this combination is a total output of 1,500 CV and 2,000 Nm of torque, figures that allow the 0-100 km/h sprint to take place in 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 410 km/h.

All this capability was put to the test on the runway of the Rada military base in Sweden. Behind the wheel of the Regera was Sony Persson, Koenigsegg’s official test driver, tasked with breaking this new record that still stays at home, since let us recall that until now the title belonged to the Agera with a time of 33.29 seconds.
On this occasion, the Regera took the record away from its younger sibling with a time of 31.49 seconds. During the run, the Koenigsegg hypercar reached 400 km/h — a speed electronically limited by the manufacturer itself — in 22.87 seconds after covering 1,613 metres of runway. To come to a complete stop, the Regera needed a total of 8.62 seconds and 435.26 metres of the runway, the total distance used for the 0-400-0 being 2,048 metres.

Koenigsegg has returned to the fray with great force, something it demonstrates with this record and with the Jesko, a potential candidate to take the crown from the Bugatti Chiron Supersport. The war goes on, and it is the manufacturers themselves who are fuelling it day after day with their creations and their desire to dominate the segment.
