Leapmotor expands its catalogue for the Chinese market with its first MPV

With this launch, Leapmotor aims to strengthen its presence in China within the competitive segment of electric and electrified vehicles, combining performance, technology and attractive design.

Leapmotor’s new seven-seat MPV for the Chinese market, named D99, is positioned as a premium option and will be available with both a fully electric propulsion system (BEV) and a range extender (EREV). Deliveries will begin on 20 July.

The D99 starts at 249,800 yuan on the Chinese market, which at the current exchange rate comes to roughly 32,250 euros. A price that places it in a relatively high segment. The top-of-the-range version reaches 319,800 yuan – about 41,300 euros. For now, it has not been confirmed whether the vehicle will be sold in other markets outside China.

With dimensions of 5.28 metres long, 2 metres wide and 1.88 metres high, and a wheelbase of 3.11 metres, the D99 offers a spacious cabin. It comes in six configurations: three for each type of propulsion – Enjoy, Smart and Flagship.

Main technical specifications

The all-wheel-drive electric version is based on a 1,000-volt architecture and features a 115 kWh battery supplied by CATL. This “super-hybrid” battery combines NMC and LFP cell chemistries, thanks to which the vehicle can travel up to 700 km on a single charge under the CLTC cycle. Its two electric motors, on the other hand, deliver a combined output of 410 kW.

The EREV version, meanwhile, uses an 800-volt system, an 80.3 kWh battery and an all-wheel-drive powertrain of 300 kW, offering up to 480 km of range in electric mode. According to the manufacturer, both versions can recover from 30 to 80 percent charge in approximately 15 minutes.

In terms of styling, Leapmotor has opted for a clean, modern design, with almost square headlights topped by a horizontal light strip. It features sliding side doors and a large panoramic roof. It is available in five exterior colours: Photoelectric White, Liquid Silver, Chenjing Blue, Skyscape Grey and Metallic Black.

The interior stands out for its technology-focused approach. A large floating central display dominates the dashboard, accompanied by a digital instrument cluster and a ceiling entertainment screen for rear passengers. In addition, it offers various seating configurations to suit different space and comfort needs.
