The 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed was once again the showcase for some truly interesting new releases. The brand DENZA has just arrived in Europe and is in the midst of its rollout. One of the models it presented on the occasion of this annual event was the DENZA BAO 5.

This is an SUV with an off-road spirit, ready to enter the European market, with a design and equipment specifically tailored to what European drivers are looking for. One of the main features of this model is its DMO plug-in hybrid system. It uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine working alongside two electric motors.

This plug-in hybrid powertrain delivers a combined output of 544 CV. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes 4.8 seconds, which is quite impressive for a vehicle of this type. It measures 4.9 metres in length and sits on a ladder-frame chassis which, together with the DMO hybrid system’s control systems and the DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic suspension, two electronic differentials and a central locking system, allows it to show off its off-road capabilities at any time.

Other important dimensions include its width of 1.97 metres and an imposing height of 1.92 metres. At the front, it makes a striking impression thanks to its round headlights framing an imposing grille featuring the DENZA logo. The front end already hints at the vehicle’s off-road capabilities. The side steps make it easy to access the cabin and reinforce its image. In the Ultimate version, however, these steps retract electronically and hide away.

The rear tailgate, which opens electronically, conceals the spare wheel. The rear lights are large, the third brake light sits on a rear spoiler, and there is additional protection at the rear to ensure its off-road capabilities.

The wheelbase is 2.8 metres, allowing for a very comfortable interior able to carry five people. The dashboard features horizontal lines that are repeated on the central console. This is where the gear selector and several physical controls are located, controlling the vehicle’s main functions. Their generous size makes them easy to use even while wearing gloves.

Technology equipment

The cabin houses four screens. The first measures 12.3 inches and is dedicated to the instrumentation, working in combination with a Head-Up Display. The second is dedicated to the information and entertainment system and measures 15.3 inches. This system uses Google’s ecosystem, so the driver has access to all the applications of this operating system.

The front passenger also enjoys a panoramic screen in front of them, so they can enjoy the entertainment system independently. The sound system is signed by the French specialist Devialet and is made up of 18 speakers. There are other elements that increase occupant comfort, and that will make this model attract a great deal of attention when it reaches the market.
