Lotec Sirius, the German Veyron

In the world of cars, there is so much news every day, so many new models, and so many pages to scroll through that sometimes we forget great passages, but the folks at Autoblog.it have refreshed my memory and reminded me of one of those cars that deserve to be talked about forever.

Kurt Lotterschmid, a former German racing driver and founder of the company Lotec, is responsible for bringing beasts like this one into the world. But Mr. Lotterschmid had already been up to “his tricks” with other cars, such as a Testarossa with F40-style looks and 780 CV, a luxury saloon called Ambassadeur based on the long-wheelbase Class S chassis, or an Arab whim destined to become the fastest single-seater in the world.

With such a track record, this company was bound to end up creating something like the protagonist of this post, the Sirius, perhaps one of the few cars that could have given the Bugatti Veyron a hard time. And so it was: in 2001 this supercar with the same heart as the Pagani Zonda was unveiled: a V12 6.0 of Mercedes origin, with 48 valves, twin turbos, and 1334 CV of power. With a weight of just 1279 kg (if you leave out the air conditioning), achieved through lightweight and exotic materials such as Kevlar, carbon fibre, and a steel tubular chassis, the Sirius delivers a power-to-weight ratio of just over 1 CV/kg, which helps it reach 0-100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and push on to a top speed of 400 km/h.

Its design is also quite spectacular, and to me it reminds me a lot of what Koenigsegg has used in its models. The price and the number of units built are two figures that are unknown, but it is not hard to guess an enormous number and a ridiculously small number, respectively.

    Saludos.
