Maserati launches an exclusive limited edition of the Levante called Vulcano

The Maserati Levante announces the arrival for Europe and Asia of the exclusive Vulcano edition, limited to just 150 units for both continents

In 2016 Maserati began its journey in the SUV segment with the Levante, the first model of this kind in the history of the Trident brand, a souped-up Ghibli/Quattroporte that entered to compete in the premium league following the launch of the Bentley Bentayga. To date, Maserati has treated us to the spectacular Levante Trofeo and its 590 CV, and has also announced that by 2020 the Levante will have a smaller sibling.

As a showcase of the craftsmanship and exclusivity surrounding a model of this kind, Maserati wants to show off its good taste with an exclusive limited edition of the Levante, which they have named Vulcano. This limited edition will be available in both the European and Asian markets, although if you are one of the fortunate few who can afford it, you should not rest on your laurels, as production will be restricted to just 150 units in total for these two major markets.

To begin with, Maserati has wanted to distinguish the Levante Vulcano from the rest of the range with a special exterior design, achieved thanks to the paint Grigio Lava in a matte finish for its bodywork, a paint that emphasises the sporty lines of this SUV. This colour is complemented by details taken from the Nerissimo pack that we were shown in 2017 at the Los Angeles Motor Show, which includes darkened rear lights, grille and logos in Black Chrome, door handles and exhaust outlets in black. All of this is topped off with darkened rear windows and 21-inch Helio wheels in a matte finish, with red brake calipers as contrast.

Inside, Maserati has also made certain touches to further strengthen the sporty side of the Levante Vulcano without losing its elegance. To this end, sports seats have been fitted that are electric, heated and ventilated, upholstered in natural leather Pieno Fiore, which can be black with red contrast stitching or vice versa, together with the detail of the Trident embroidered on the headrest. Carbon fibre in a High Gloss finish has also been applied to the inserts, as well as to the gear paddles and the sporty steering wheel. The final touch is a commemorative plate bearing the number of each model in the edition, fitted to the central tunnel.

In terms of equipment, the Levante Vulcano also comes with interesting standard features, such as the premium sound system signed by Bowers&Wilkins, soft-close door mechanisms, front and rear parking sensors, and adaptive headlights with Matrix full-LED technology.

Mechanically, the Levante Vulcano will be available with the two petrol options on offer, leaving the diesel version aside. Both options are based on a 3,000 cc V6 engine that can develop 350 CV and 500 Nm of torque, or alternatively 430 CV together with 580 Nm of torque. It is already on sale in Spain with a starting price of 136,000 euros for the “smaller” option, or 146,300 euros for the more powerful option.
