Mercedes-Benz electric sales finally recover

The recent launch of the CLA and the new electric models coming from the star brand have brought renewed optimism to the Mercedes-Benz headquarters.

Mercedes-Benz has managed to record an increase in electric vehicle sales in the third quarter of 2025, after six consecutive quarters of decline. This upturn, driven by the launch of the new CLA and greater availability of electric vans, marks a turning point for the German manufacturer based in Stuttgart.

Between July and September 2025, the Mercedes-Benz Group sold 51,200 electric vehicles, an increase of 9 percent over the same period last year and a notable 22 percent more than in the second quarter of 2025. However, it should be noted that cumulative pure electric sales so far this year reach 138,600 units, reflecting a decline of 7 percent, as a consequence of a very weak first half.

In the passenger car segment, Mercedes-Benz recorded sales of 42,600 vehicles with electric propulsion systems in the third quarter of 2025, matching the figures for the same period of the previous year but achieving a 22 percent increase compared with the previous quarter. Annual sales of electric passenger cars, on the other hand, amount to 118,400 units, 13 percent less than in 2024.

Mercedes-Benz electrics make the difference

Overall, Mercedes-Benz sales fell 3 percent in the quarter, with a total of 441,500 vehicles delivered to the brand’s customers. Pure electric vehicles accounted for 9.6 percent of these sales, an increase from 7.9 percent in the third quarter of 2024.

In the van segment, Mercedes-Benz sold 83,800 units this last quarter, 10 percent less than in the same period of the previous year. However, with 8,600 units sold, electric vans recorded a 25 percent increase compared with the second quarter and an impressive 96 percent compared with the third quarter of 2024. So far this year, 20,200 electric vans have been sold, 61 percent more than in the same period last year. This growth reflects the increasing acceptance of the brand’s electric offering, supported by initiatives such as the launch of the Van Uptime Monitor in several European markets.

Looking ahead, Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce the electric GLC from 2026, together with the electric CLA Shooting Brake, an electric version of the C-Class with this same propulsion system, and other SUVs based on CLA technology, such as the successors to the EQA and EQB, which will be marketed as the GLA and GLB.
