Mercedes-Benz will use new-generation charging points from Alpitronic in its Premium fast-charging network
Last week in Munich, the German brand confirmed the integration of Alpitronic’s innovative HYC1000 system into its Premium charging network.
Mercedes-Benz stole the spotlight at IAA Mobility 2025, held last week in the German city of Munich, with its new Premium electric SUV, the GLC EQ. However, the German manufacturer also unveiled several other interesting innovations related to electric mobility at the show.
Among them, the expansion of its fast-charging network and the introduction of bidirectional charging on some of its electric models from 2026 stand out, starting with its new GLC EQ SUV. But that’s not all: in collaboration with Alpitronic, Mercedes-Benz also announced the integration of the HYV1000 charging points from the Italian company. These new-generation charging points, which will also be found at some IONITY stations in Europe, can deliver a charging power of up to 600 kW and are connected to power units operating at 800 amperes and 1000 kW.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz and Alpitronic are also jointly developing a high-performance ultra-fast charger that promises to match the charging speed of electric vehicles with the refuelling time of a conventional combustion-engine vehicle. This project is based on results obtained with a prototype system used in record-breaking tests of the Concept AMG GT XX.
Ultra-fast charging is a priority for Mercedes-Benz
According to the German company, this collaboration aims to offer an ultra-fast, seamlessly integrated charging experience within the brand’s Premium ecosystem, making electric mobility even more attractive. Likewise, Alpitronic’s management did not hesitate to stress the importance of having high charging power, so as to make the most of the capabilities of the most advanced electric vehicles now reaching the market.

With these kinds of innovations, Mercedes-Benz not only seeks to optimise the charging experience, but also to position the brand’s electric vehicles as a benchmark in this area compared with competitors’ models.
