Mitsubishi electrifies its range with the official presentation of the new Eclipse Cross BEV
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross returns to the brand’s lineup now as a fully electric SUV that promises more than 600 km of range in its extended version

Mitsubishi is making its full entry into the world of fully electric mobility, although it’s worth noting that the Japanese brand already made a first foray in 2009 when it launched the i-MiEV. Now it does so with the Eclipse Cross EV, which has been developed in and for Europe, making it the first fully electric model from the brand in this new era.
The new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross EV is presented as an SUV aimed at families, developed on the CMF-EV platform of Renault, with generous dimensions of 4,470 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width and 1,570 mm in height. Its design does not differ excessively from the Eclipse Cross we already knew, but it is different, especially at the front, where we find a reinterpretation of the characteristic Dynamic Shield design of Mitsubishi, now with a three-dimensional hexagonal surface treatment in satin chrome and accompanied by new sharp, menacing-looking LED headlights. A little lower down, there are daytime running lights formed by horizontal lines relative to the bumper, which decrease in size as they flow downward.

From the side of the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross EV we can easily appreciate the “J”-shaped line that starts at the base of the front windows and extends to the rear, while the remaining surfaces are flat and fluid, with flush door handles playing a major role in this respect. At the rear, with a design inspired by the front daytime running lights, there are “L”-shaped LED taillights, as well as a tailgate with a loading lip positioned high.

Mitsubishi will market the Eclipse Cross EV in the Kaiteki and Kaiteki+ trim levels, which can include exterior details in gloss black, satin chrome and steel grey. In addition, its bodywork can be chosen in a range of colours such as Volcanic Grey, Crystal White, Sapphire Blue, Sunrise Red and Onyx Black, not forgetting that the launch versions will be two-tone with an Onyx Black roof. The alloy wheels can be 19 or 20 inches but, in any case, in a two-tone and machined finish.

The interior of the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross EV has improved considerably in terms of design and material quality, where, as in every car today, the screens stand out: there is a 12.3-inch screen for the infotainment system positioned vertically and, we could say, joined together with the instrument panel, as well as a digital display of another 12.3 inches. Obviously, depending on the trim chosen along with the options list, we can equip the Eclipse Cross EV with much more technology, such as the Harman & Kardon 10-channel, 410 W sound system or the MI-PILOT semi-autonomous technology, all complemented by an extensive range of driver assistance systems.

Occupants will also benefit from an elegant interior where natural light will flood in thanks to the electrochromic roof, while at night the LED ambient lighting will create a welcoming atmosphere, and we can choose it to our liking thanks to the 48 colours available, which can even change depending on the driving mode. Note that the boot of the Eclipse Cross EV will have a capacity of 545 litres, expandable up to 1,670 litres if the outer seats are folded down.

Mechanically, Mitsubishi confirms that from the moment of launch the Eclipse Cross EV will be available in its most powerful version, corresponding to an electric motor delivering a power output of 160 kW (220 CV) together with a torque of 300 Nm, which allows it to accelerate to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 km/h. This setup will work together with a long-range 87 kWh battery with which, according to the company, it will exceed 600 kilometres of range, and which allows charging both with a mode 2 and a mode 3 cable. Later, throughout 2026 and with a power output yet to be confirmed, a mid-range version will arrive using a 60 kWh battery.
The new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will begin production in the third quarter of this year, so we will not have to wait long to learn its specific equipment and prices for our country.
