Hilux Toyota Fotos / Vídeos espía Pick-up
More photos of the new Toyota Hilux 2016 leaked online

The presentation of the new generation of the Toyota Hilux is scheduled for June and will take place in Thailand, one of the countries where the pick-up is manufactured and where it sells the most. However, its reveal is taking place progressively online almost two months in advance. Last week, the Facebook page Ferd published a scanned image of a promotional brochure for the vehicle and two spy photographs of a unit uncovered in a warehouse.
This week, Ferd has posted new, much more revealing captures of the vehicle in question, which not only allow a closer look at the front and side views, but also peek into the cabin. The unit caught “naked” corresponds to the version that will be sold in Asia, so slight differences can be expected in the European Hilux.
Just as the camouflaged units suggested -some of which were seen in Spain-, Toyota will carry its “Keen” design language into the new Hilux, which in this model will be characterised by more expressive headlights and a grille that takes a back seat to the lower air intakes in the bumper. Additional creases, more pronounced wheel arches and slightly more streamlined mirrors are other noteworthy changes.

The interior has been completely redesigned and will be more technology-oriented. The steering wheel, the instrument cluster, the air vents and the materials are all new. The manual climate controls seem to indicate that this is a basic trim, unlike the Hilux photographed from the outside, which shows a much higher level of equipment.
The new Hilux will include numerous new technical and safety features. The versions with four-wheel drive will replace the old rigid-axle rear suspension with leaf springs by a multi-link type, very similar to that of the Nissan NP300. The pick-up will be the first commercial vehicle from Toyota to benefit from the automatic emergency braking system of the Toyota Safety Sense package, so in this respect it will be able to rival the new Ford Ranger.

The 2.5 D-4D diesel engines of 144 CV and 3.0 D-4D of 171 CV will be replaced by two 2.4 and 2.8-litre units, both four-cylinder and turbocharged. Their power outputs will range between 161 and 176 CV, depending on whether they are paired with the five-speed manual gearbox, which will feature “Eco” and “Power” modes, or the six-speed automatic.
