Audi also targets hydrogen fuel cell models with the A7 Sportback H-Tron Quattro

Various brands are preparing their proposals for fuel cell vehicles that use hydrogen to run, from the Toyota Mirai, the proposal from Honda and now the concept from Audi based on the A7, which will be presented at the Los Angeles Motor Show

It seems that major changes are on the horizon in the world of cars powered by alternative fuels. We have already seen cars powered by electric motors and fossil fuels, fully electric motors, powered by liquefied petroleum gases and now, by a hydrogen fuel cell.

It has not been even a day since we were talking about the proposal from Toyota on this topic, with the presentation of the Toyota Mirai, but it turns out it will not be the only one we see at the Los Angeles Motor Show. Audi has announced that it will also present its own option during the Californian event. Its proposal will be a version of the Audi A7 and will soon compete to carve out a niche in this market.

As with the other model we have presented, the one from Toyota, there is no detailed information about its capabilities, but its name already gives some hint of its performance. The Audi A7 Sportback H-Tron Quattro. They are being held back for the presentation at the Los Angeles Motor Show 2014 to reveal all the information this model holds inside.

Fuel cells run on hydrogen, are capable of covering several hundred kilometres without refuelling, something they do in about five minutes, unlike electric cars. These fall well behind in terms of performance, but today they are already on the market, which is not the case with the various models that use the hydrogen fuel cell.

These will have their chance from 2016 onwards, when the proposals from Toyota, Honda or Audi become a reality. That said, they will face the main problem of emerging technologies, namely that there will not be many charging points. In the United States, according to what we have read, some points will be installed, but in Europe nothing has been said yet.
