Opel Vivaro-e, the electric alternative for clean transport

The Opel Vivaro has its 100% electric model ready for next year and has advanced the design of the variant without yet revealing its technical specifications

The Opel Vivaro is a light transport vehicle that aims to be even more efficient. That is why, starting in 2020, it will have an electric variant that, in addition, will be a zero-emission vehicle and be able to move around the city without any kind of problems. For this reason, the electric version has been presented, which will go head to head not only with similar models but also with the increasingly strict city traffic regulations.

The new Opel Vivaro is built on the modular EMP2 platform, a base that also underpins the Toyota ProAce and several other vehicles from the PSA group. This electric model will feature two battery packs that offer different ranges depending on their capacity. The first will be 50 kWh and will provide a range of approximately 201 kilometres.

The second model will have a capacity of 75 kWh, which will allow a range of 298 kilometres. Both figures are measured according to the WLTP cycle. The Opel Vivaro is designed to be driven on the road, so the move to electric mobility was inevitable and had to happen. The plan is to use this vehicle for cargo and passenger transport in urban environments, as it has until now, but from now on with zero emissions.

Current demands for electric mobility mean that brands must adapt to zero-emission driving. With this type of vehicle, deliveries can be made on these streets and it can serve as a passenger shuttle from the airport to the city centre. The expectations for this version of the Vivaro have not yet been explained, but they are not expected to be spectacular, as it is a vehicle designed for urban driving.

As part of the PACE! programme, Opel intends to prepare an offer of electrified vehicles that will include all models by 2024. For now, we will be unveiling new confirmed models over the coming months, such as the Opel Mokka X and the upcoming Opel Astra, which will also have an electrified version.
