Peugeot 208 and 2008 introduce a new selector for their automatic gearbox
Peugeot introduces a new selector for the 208 and 2008 equipped with the EAT8 automatic gearbox, which is integrated into the brand’s i-Cockpit design

The Peugeot 208 and 2008 are two models that, as you know, go hand in hand, so much so that in 2021 they became overall market leaders in the European market within the B-SUV segment. As you can imagine, they are two very important models for the lion brand, so keeping them up to date is vital if sales figures are to remain at these levels.
This is how Peugeot announces a design innovation that will affect both the 208 and the 2008, focused on their interior, specifically the central console, where versions with a combustion engine paired with the EAT8 automatic gearbox as well as the fully electric versions will receive a new selector with a more ergonomic design, easier to use, and better integrated into the overall design.

As you know, the interiors of Peugeot revolve around the i-Cockpit, a dashboard design in which the driver has the controls oriented toward them and is provided with information in a clear and visible way. This new automatic gearbox selector integrates with the i-Cockpit design of the Peugeot 208 and 2008, using a combination of satin chrome and piano black materials, and a covering that imitates carbon fibre has been used on the wrist rest.

On this lever we will find the three common modes that we can select regardless of the engine fitted: Reverse (R) to select reverse gear, Neutral (N) to select neutral, and Drive (D) to set off and have all eight ratios engage automatically. Above the designation there is the Park (P) button to activate parking mode and, below it, if our engine is a combustion unit we will have the Manual (M) button to allow gear selection via the steering wheel paddles, and if it is an electric motor we will have the Brake (B) button, to allow greater energy recovery during regenerative braking.
Let us remember that the EAT8 automatic gearbox of Peugeot is available for PureTech petrol engines in 100 CV and 130 CV outputs, while the fully electric versions of both models are standardly paired with this gearbox.
