Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 300: a plug-in hybrid SUV that has it all

The most powerful version of the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid combines two engines to deliver 300 CV, all-wheel drive, 69 km of electric range and a CERO label.

Everything you could want in an SUV is offered by the new Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 300, the second plug-in hybrid variant in the range, which joins the Hybrid 225. As you may have already guessed, the name refers to power: 225 CV in the first case, with a single engine and front-wheel drive; and 300 CV for the version with two engines and all-wheel drive.

In this way, with plug-in hybrid propulsion technology, the 3008 Hybrid 300 combines sporty performance, the ability to drive in electric mode every day, low consumption… and the practicality of a body like the 3008’s. Not to mention all the advantages associated with the DGT CERO emissions label.

Two engines, all-wheel drive, plug-in hybrid

To reach 300 CV of power, the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid combines the 1.6-litre PureTech petrol engine with turbocharger supercharging, delivering 147 kW (200 CV), with two electric motors. The first of these, together with the combustion engine and the EAT8 automatic gearbox, sits on the front axle and delivers 81 kW (110 CV). The second electric motor, mounted on the rear axle, has a power output of 83 kW (112 CV).

The performance of this version is more typical of a GTI than an SUV, dropping below 6 seconds for the 0 to 100 km/h sprint. Top speed is 235 km/h.

And thanks to the 13.2 kWh battery, the 3008 Hybrid 300 not only offers driving thrills, it also allows up to 59 km to be covered without consuming fuel, according to the WLTP cycle, delivering the same driving experience as an electric car for everyday use.

In hybrid mode, as long as the battery retains charge, the homologated average consumption is 1.3 l/100 km. This is the mode selected by default when the car starts. The driver can also choose between the electric, Sport and 4×4 programmes. The estimated battery charging time using a Wallbox and the most powerful optional charger is under two hours, compared with the 7 hours needed from a domestic socket.

Equipment and price of the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 300

Unlike the 3008 Hybrid 225, the most powerful version is only offered in the sportiest trims, GT and GT Pack. As standard, the GT trim includes items such as full LED headlights, Alcantara upholstery, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, a digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch screen, and a central touchscreen for the multimedia system measuring 10 inches.

The GT Pack versions add, among other items, specific 19-inch alloy wheels, a hands-free electric tailgate, seats with massage function and the Focal high-fidelity audio system.

The price on the Peugeot configurator starts at 47,000 euros, which can drop to 45,100 euros with discounts and financing for the GT. The GT Pack versions carry a 2,500-euro premium.

This means the Hybrid 300 costs 5,500 euros more than the 225 CV 4×2 version with identical equipment, in exchange for more power, all-wheel drive and a slightly greater electric range, as the 4×2 stays at 55 km.
