Porsche 911 Carrera T: this is the "nine-eleven" for purists, lighter and with manual gearbox only
Lighter than the 911 Carrera, manual gearbox only, with a specific chassis tuning and, for the first time, also available as a convertible: the Porsche 911 Carrera T is the “nine-eleven” for enthusiasts of driving in its purest form.

Fingers of one hand are enough to count the cars I would buy with a manual gearbox -and I have spare fingers-. And the Porsche 911 Carrera T is one of them, although in this case there is no other option. Now, the German brand presents the new edition of a variant it brought back to the range in 2017, with a clear focus on driving pleasure in its purest form. To achieve this, the same recipe has been followed: manual gearbox, specific suspension tuning and a weight-loss regime. The main news this time is that, for the first time, a Carrera T Cabrio is also offered.
Lighter, purer
It’s not much, but there they are. Better said, they’re not there, because they have disappeared: they are 42 kg less than the 911 Carrera, achieved by removing insulation and using lightweight glass windows. At the wheel it will be hard to notice them, but what will be noticeable from the first turn of the steering wheel is the chassis tuning, with the PASM adaptive sport suspension firmer and ride height lowered by 10 mm. For the first time, the Carrera T also benefits from rear-axle steering, which adds an extra measure of agility. The wheels are 20 inches at the front axle, with 245/35 tyres; and 21 inches at the rear axle, the one that transmits power to the asphalt through 305/30 tyres.

Under the bonnet, the twin-turbo flat-six engine delivers a power of 290 kW (394 CV) and a maximum torque of 450 Nm, the same output as in the 911 Carrera. But the Carrera T is offered only with a six-speed manual transmission featuring “auto-blip” function, which automatically blips the throttle when downshifting, as if you were doing “heel-and-toe”. The Sport Chrono package is standard equipment and includes the Porsche Track Precision app.

Among the distinctive details of this version, a decal on the rear windows refers to the manual transmission. There are also decorative inserts in metallic vanadium colour, a rear spoiler taken from the 911 Carrera GTS and body colours exclusive to the Porsche Legends range. Inside, the gear lever knob has a walnut wood finish, and the gear pattern is repeated on the dashboard. Sport seats with Sport-Tex upholstery in the centre section are standard; optionally, Plus adaptive sport seats with more adjustment positions, or bucket seats that reduce weight even further, can be fitted.
The price of the Porsche 911 Carrera T for the Spanish market is 164,508 euros, and 180,565 for the Carrera T Cabrio, which means around 15,000 euros more than the 911 Carrera.
