Do you want to convert your Ferrari with automatic gearbox to manual? We can help you.

Do you want to convert your Ferrari with automatic gearbox to manual? We can help you. When the Ferrari 458 was first revealed in 2009, it received almost universal acclaim. It was better than the Ferrari F430 it replaced and, equipped with a naturally aspirated 4.5-litre V8 capable of producing a staggering 562 CV, it was also much faster.

There was only one problem: it did not offer the option of a manual gearbox. The dual-clutch unit of the Ferrari 458 was faster than any human could shift, but for manual purists it could not provide a suitable alternative to the pleasure of pushing through the gears of a manual gearbox.

Ferrari never offered a Ferrari 458 with a manual transmission, but the guys at European Auto Group, EAG, based in San Antonio, Texas, want to be the first to build one. You may remember European Auto Group as the developers of the world’s first and only Ferrari 430 Scuderia, so they clearly know what they are doing.

Ferrari 458, will they manage to make it manual?

Art Bartosik, owner of European Auto Group, has stated that “people are asking for a manual Ferrari 458 and a Ferrari 488. If there were no demand, we would not do it.” AEG is already flooded with owners of Ferrari F430s who want to convert and take on a much greater challenge.”

Unlike the Ferrari F430, which had a factory manual option, the “transmission in the Ferrari 458 must be swapped for a six-speed because it comes with a dual-clutch one.” So, while the 430 can be converted to manual without a swap, the 458 will need a new transmission. Bartosik did not specify which transmission they will use, but he did mention that supply is limited and that only between 10 and 11 units can be built.

“We already have a list, but people should start queuing up.” “It is going to be exclusive.” Development of the car is still a few months from completion, but AEG has a prototype. EAG’s owner says completion is “a few months away, but deposits are being taken.” EAG should be able to start building cars for customers in January 2020.

After the 458 is finished, the shop already has plans for more manual swaps. “The Lamborghini Huracán is definitely on the list.” “We have had a large number of enquiries. People want to see a Lamborghini six-speed manual with all-wheel drive. If they want it, we will give it to them. The Huracán should be easier than the Ferrari because there are things hidden there that give us more flexibility.”

We cannot wait to see the finished product and take it out on the road for a test. Owners of a Ferrari 458 who wish to make their car more unique can already get their chequebooks ready.
