Renault plans to expand its range of electric cars

Renault plans to expand its range of electric cars and is raising its bet with three new segments. In addition, today it presents the Renault ZOE Néo.

Renault plans to expand its range of electric cars with multiple body styles, a complete range of electric cars that will form part of segments A, B and C by 2022. That is the brand’s goal according to the Head of Electric Car Sales of the diamond brand.

The French brand intends to launch on the market at least two new body styles of fully electric models before 2022 as part of its broad electrification plan, including the expected crossover models.

During a recent brand presentation, the model that has just been leaked through spy images was discussed. Emmanuel Bouvier, head of sales and marketing of the French brand, prepared a slide in which two new fully electric models that are already being processed were pointed out, and for now their name and details are unknown.

When asked about the models as part of a broader push into the electric car market, Bouvier stated that “our goal is to cover segments A, B and C, with multiple vehicle forms.” This statement would probably include crossover variants in the two largest segments.

The Head of Sales of the diamond brand, Emmanuel Bouvier, has also confirmed that the new models would be passenger vehicles and not commercial vehicles such as the Renault Kangoo ZE. The French brand already has the city covered with the Renault Twizy, the Renault ZOE and the Renault Kangoo. These three fully electric models have only just begun the brand’s electric offensive.

Renault will also produce an electric saloon, similar to the Renault Fluence, which left the market some time ago, as part of a company program in conjunction with Samsung in Korea. The Renault City K-ZE is an affordable segment A electric car aimed mainly at Asian markets, but it is under consideration for Europe.

While it is not yet clear which of the additional body styles will be the highest priority for Renault electrification, segment B crossovers, that is, mini-sized ones, are selling faster than in any other category. The French brand also has a scalable electric platform, called CMF-EV, which could be used to manufacture battery electric models of different sizes and prices.

Renault ZOE 2019

Today, June 17, the diamond brand will officially present the new Renault ZOE. This model has undergone a deep restyling and will be called Renault ZOE Néo, a name that refers to the fact that it is not a simple facelift but not a new generation either.

Although the new model will be unveiled today, it will not reach the market until next September, but it is important to note that its production has already started at the Flins plant, France, where around 400 units will be manufactured per day. The vehicle can be acquired through leasing, purchase of the vehicle with battery rental, and purchase of the car and battery.

Some sources suggest that the new Renault ZOE Néo will be 500 euros more expensive than its predecessor. The new model from the French brand will have new full LED headlights with a sharp design and daytime running lights integrated into the headlight outline. The bumper will have a new design with an air intake and chrome inserts. Behind the logo, the charging port will be found, which will be more vertical.
