Porsche Electric Cars Geneva Motor Show Technology Tuning
Ruf: a specialist in electric Porsche, with ten new prototypes

What has happened to Ruf, one of the most traditional tuners of the Porsche in the world? The answer is simple: slowly, they are adapting to the times we live in, eager for new technologies that also seek to assert themselves (and are succeeding) in the universe that revolves around the famous Stuttgart brand. They have never stopped delighting us with the Porsche they build, but they also want to be the first, even before Porsche itself, to offer a range of electric models.
If in the past we already had the chance to see how Ruf managed to strike deals with Siemens and prepare an electric Cayenne or the Ruff Greenster, what awaits us now are 10 new 997 Carrera prototypes, under three different electric powertrain setups.
In short, the combinations Ruf has achieved result from different variants of transmissions and electric motors. For example, a single electric motor and a single-speed gearbox (the most common), or two motors and a two-speed gearbox, which delivers around 335 horsepower.
The third model is the most daring, as it uses the same two motors as the 335-horsepower car, but adds two gearboxes: one motor and transmission drive one of the rear wheels, while the other motor-gearbox “pair” drives the other rear wheel. This way they aim to find out whether such combinations improve torque distribution to each wheel and cornering behavior.
The third model is truly curious, although it is not yet known whether it will be the one shown in Geneva. Ruf has advanced enormously in electric technology oriented to performance cars, the most diligent student of Porsche.
