Cybertruck Tesla Electric Cars Pick-up
Tesla is set to increase the maximum power of its V4 Superchargers to more than 300 kW
The 800V architecture of the Cybertruck should allow for much faster battery pack charging, and Tesla appears to be working on it.
The American manufacturer’s electric pickup could soon receive a significant improvement in its charging capacity, thanks to some enhancements implemented in the company’s latest-generation Superchargers. According to some recent reports, Tesla has begun testing at a very limited number of its Supercharger stations in the United States.
The Cybertruck has been sold locally since last November and, according to its specifications, the 123 kWh battery pack supports peak charging rates of up to 250 kW. This means it is possible to recover about 220 km of range in just 15 minutes.

This charging capacity of Tesla’s electric pickup is, however, currently limited by software, since unlike the rest of the brand’s models, it features an 800V architecture that should allow for much faster charging. This limitation today is imposed not only by the vehicle itself but also by the company’s Superchargers.
Ultra-fast charging at Tesla’s Superchargers is on the way
This situation could change, however, in not much time if we consider that Tesla appears to be working on it. Or at least that is what the findings from some Cybertruck users suggest, who claim to have achieved charging speeds much faster than usual at certain new-generation Superchargers located in California.
According to these users, the charging power reached sometimes exceeds 300 kW, although it drops slightly below this figure once the battery charge level exceeds 20 percent. Furthermore, these same users claim that during these somewhat faster-than-usual charges, the voltage remained as usual, below 500V.

The most interesting part, however, was yet to come. Responding to these statements, the chief engineer in charge of developing the Cybertruck has confirmed that Tesla is indeed conducting tests to reduce the charging time of the battery pack of its electric pickup. He explained that, for the time being, some tests have been carried out at V3+ stations. That is, stations that have the infrastructure of V3 stations, but with V4 charging posts.
This statement makes it clear that Tesla still has a lot of room for improvement as it updates or opens new stations with the latest-generation technology. And it is the Cybertruck, thanks to its 800V architecture, that is paving the way for ultra-fast charging at Tesla’s Superchargers, which should subsequently also reach future electric models from the American manufacturer, also featuring an 800V architecture.
