The Bugatti EB110 Sport Competizione returns to the track 25 years later
The exclusive Bugatti EB110 Sport Competizione has returned to the track, 25 years later!

This is one of the two units of this impressive Bugatti EB110 Sport Competizione! Two years after the concept of the Bugatti La Voiture Noire debuted, it has reached the road. In addition, the brand is also getting ready to launch the Bugatti Centodieci, a tribute to the legendary Bugatti EB110 SS from 1990. Besides the 139 units that reached the road, the manufacturer developed two units capable of delivering 700 CV of power, and one of them has returned to the track, 25 years later!
The first unit was a Bugatti EB110 LM in blue that took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1994. This model caught the attention of Gildo Pallanca-Pastor, a driver who set a speed record on ice in an EB110 Super Sport in 1995. He also wanted to compete in official races in the IMSA series in the United States and other endurance races, so he commissioned Bugatti to build him a custom race car. The result was the Bugatti EB110 Sport Competizione. Created in just six months, the EB110 Sport Competizione was lighter and faster than the road car. Bugatti planned to develop three units, but only one was built due to financial setbacks and supply problems.

Gildo Pallanca-Pastor raced the EB110 Sport Competizione in the IMSA races and in the BPR Global GT Series, an international racing series designed for production cars. Although the Bugatti EB110 SC performed well, demand for supercars declined and spare parts became scarcer. In the end, Bugatti was declared bankrupt in 1995, before the Volkswagen Group revived the company in 1998 and seized the race car. Fortunately, Gildo Pallanca-Pastor managed to rescue the Bugatti EB110 SC from the bankruptcy assets and took part in Daytona in 1996 before preparing to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Unfortunately, Gildo Pallanca-Pastor was involved in an accident while racing at the Dijon circuit in France. This crash left the EB110 Sport Competizione heavily damaged. Due to the lack of spare parts, it could not be repaired, so it was unable to take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which started just one week later. This was the last time the car set foot on a track during its brief racing career.
However, the impressive race car has been repaired and sold to a collector. 25 years after its last race, the spectacular Bugatti EB110 Sport Competizione has returned to Dijon for a photo session, offering us unique views. Impressive!
