The Corvette ZR1X 2026 is the new 100% American supercar

The world of hypercars never ceases to amaze, and it’s easy to keep finding new models that make us dream of getting behind the wheel of one. The Corvette ZR1X 2026 is one of them, and it comes from the United States. Chevrolet has wanted to showcase all of its technological potential with this model, which joins the Corvette ZR1 as the ultimate expression of what the brand is capable of offering.

The hypercar uses an electrified drivetrain that breaks with everything an American manufacturer has produced until now and has managed to surprise everyone. The engine that opens the range is the 5.5-litre LT7 V8 block from the ZR1, which is capable of delivering 1,069 CV and a maximum torque of 1,122 Nm.

All this power is sent to the rear axle through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The engine features twin 76 mm turbochargers and an exhaust designed to sit close to the turbochargers, allowing for a better response when the accelerator is pressed.

The turbochargers also have a system that keeps them running when the throttle is released in certain situations, which maintains momentum and restores power when it is needed again.

The electric motor is linked to the front axle and delivers 186 CV and a maximum torque of 196 Nm. It is similar to the unit used in the Chevrolet E-Ray, but it has been modified to achieve greater thrust and is capable of generating an additional 26 CV and 27 Nm when necessary. Its behaviour on the track becomes more efficient thanks to these modifications.

Power control

This power is managed thanks to an improved eAWD chassis. Thanks to the modifications, this system makes the car behave more efficiently on track. Using a set of sensors and other tools, the system monitors the driver’s inputs and the vehicle’s needs at every moment and manages the power delivered to each axle, in order to achieve the best performance at all times.

The brakes are designed to keep the power under control. They use ten pistons on the front wheels and six pistons on the rear. They are paired with 16.5-inch rotors on both axles, made from carbon fibre. This guarantees heat resistance and allows more efficient braking.

The car can be driven both on track and on the road thanks to chassis adjustments that deliver the best of the car at every moment. This behaviour can be enhanced with the ZTK performance package, which offers greater stiffness and firmness. Aerodynamics have also been carefully considered, and the exterior has been designed to deliver good behaviour in this respect.

The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X will be built at General Motors’ plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The LT7 engine will be hand-assembled by master engine builders at the plant’s High Performance Build Centre. For now, there is no information on pricing or availability for this hypercar, but we won’t have to wait long to find out.
