The evolution of Lamborghini's supercars summarised in 6 minutes thanks to this video
The evolution of Lamborghini’s vehicles can be summarised in 6 minutes thanks to this video. It begins with the 350 GT and ends with the Aventador.

Every brand in the world has an interesting history behind it, which would be familiar to any motoring enthusiast. However, some companies have distinctive features in their evolution that make them very special. Something similar happens with Lamborghini, whose beginnings involved building tractors, while today it manufactures luxurious supercars. Today, we will take a brief look at the firm’s most iconic models thanks to this video.
Currently -and for some years now- the bull brand is known for making mid-engined supercars, differing mainly in the number of cylinders in the engine. However, in the sixties Lamborghini produced GT-concept vehicles, which could seat up to four passengers and had the powerful heart located at the front. We can see this example in the first production Lamborghini in history.
Lamborghini 350 GT: the start of a new era
Many of us know about the conflict between Enzo Ferrari and Ferruccio Lamborghini, since the latter criticised Enzo for saying his cars were not good enough and that from that moment on he would make his own cars. The founder of the Cavallino Rampante laughed, suggesting that a mere tractor manufacturer could in no way achieve such a feat.

It was in 1963 that the first production Lamborghini was born, known as the 350 GT. It housed a powerful 3.5-litre V12 engine capable of producing 280 CV of power. Stylistically it featured a fastback body, which gave it a very elegant and sporty design. Only 120 units of the model were made, but that had only been the beginning.
Lamborghini Miura: the brand’s first supercar
It was in 1966 that the Italian brand made a radical change, moving from making GT vehicles to pure, hardcore supercars. The Miura was the first to occupy this place within the company, and it did so in grand style. The engine moved from the front to a position behind the seats, specifically a 3.2-litre V12 capable of delivering 350 CV. The curious thing about this engine is that it was rotated 60 degrees and sat horizontally within the car.

Of the first version of the Italian supercar -called the Miura P400- only 475 units were made. Today, any variant of the Miura is considered priceless and is regarded as one of the most beautiful vehicles in motoring history. Thanks to this sports car, Lamborghini was able to keep growing.
Lamborghini Countach: the birth of scissor doors
The Countach was the last model the brand created under Ferruccio’s leadership, before Chrysler took over the company in 1987. This Italian supercar had a completely radical style and sought to break all the design conventions of the era. For the first time, a Lamborghini featured the iconic scissor doors, which have become the main symbol of the brand’s V12 models.

Inside, the same engine block used in the Miura lived on, but improved in several respects. It was a naturally aspirated V12 capable of delivering 370 CV of power, and it featured a multitubular steel tube chassis, which gave the Countach a lower weight. Another curiosity of this iconic model is its name. As is well known, Lamborghini chooses the names of its models from bull breeds, but with this vehicle it was different.
The word Countach, is an Italian expression used when something amazes with its beauty. That word was used by Nuccio Bertone when he first saw the Countach’s design. Without a doubt, it is one of the most special vehicles in the brand’s history, but this was only a stepping stone towards success.

Several models existed between the 350 GT and the Countach, including some with a V8 engine under the bonnet, and we can see these thanks to the video we present today. Over time, the bull brand has evolved to the point of offering an entry-level model with a V10 engine. However, there is still a long way to go and Lamborghini will surely continue to surprise us.
