The Ford Bronco arrives in Spain in limited units from €86,900

A year after it was announced that the Ford Bronco would reach Europe, it has finally landed in Spain, where it begins sales in limited units

Ford Bronco España (6)

Many are the vehicles born in the United States that we have longed to have in Europe, models that, for one reason or another, the brands never ended up bringing to this side of the pond. The Ford Bronco was one of those models, absent from the brand’s lineup for 25 years, which has now returned with force: a striking design and all of today’s technology, and, now yes, we can finally enjoy officially in Europe, including Spain, just as we were told last year.

But if you are one of those who dream of having a Bronco in your garage, you must be very alert, because it will arrive in Europe in limited units and at a price that could not really be called affordable, so let us first look at what it includes. In Spain it will be available in the Outer Banks and Badlands versions, the latter with improved components for better off-road performance, plus a very small number of First Edition units for a trim with exclusive elements such as:

  • Badge with the production number located inside
  • Selection of optional key accessories
  • Neoprene seat covers
  • Storage pockets on the doors
  • Soft fabric roof depending on the trim

Unlike what can happen with other models, the Ford Bronco in Europe will not differ from the American version, so from the outside it breathes the essence of off-road driving and freedom that the Bronco conveys, not only through its looks but also through its solutions. In this sense we will find elements such as the “gun ports” located on the raised front sections that frame the edges of the bodywork, capable of supporting up to 68 kg, in addition to carrying long objects such as surfboards; there is also the four-panel rigid roof that can be removed and stored easily, enhancing the off-road experience.

What can also be removed are the doors, which lose their frames to make them lighter, and with just one tool and in eight minutes they can be taken off without difficulty by anyone. The grille and front bumper can also be dismantled and replaced with alternative ones, as can the wheel arches, removable for easy replacement should they be damaged during off-road driving. To this we must add original details that owners will keep discovering, such as hidden logos, a graphic of the 1966 Bronco, the GPS coordinates where the new Bronco was tested, and even a bottle opener integrated into the interior.

But despite all this robustness and a design oriented toward use off the road, the Bronco does not forget comfort and technology for its occupants. It features, for example, grab handles integrated into the dashboard and centre console, as well as surfaces that can be cleaned easily and physical switches sealed with silicone and rubber contact points to protect and clean them easily. To all this we must add, among others, elements such as the following:

  • Wireless charging base with a surface that keeps the phone in place even at extreme angles
  • Instrument cluster with an 8-inch partial TFT screen
  • SYNC 4 infotainment system with a 12-inch touchscreen
  • Mount for cameras or smartphones
  • USB and 12 V power connections
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • B&O Premium sound system with 10 speakers and subwoofer
  • 360º camera that activates automatically in off-road driving modes

In terms of mechanics, the Ford Bronco will be available in Spain with the 2.7-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 petrol engine, delivering 335 CV and 563 Nm of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox optimised for smooth driving both on and off the road. In the Outer Banks version it features a two-speed electronic transfer case; while the Badlands version adds a lockable front differential and a front stabiliser bar disconnect system, and its transfer case can automatically switch between the two speeds so the driver can focus on driving.

As standard, therefore on the Outer Banks version, it fits a high-performance suspension signed by HOSS with independent double wishbones and long-travel coil springs at the front and, at the rear, a five-link solid rear axle with long-travel springs and variable rate. On the Badlands version the suspension changes to a higher-grade unit signed by Bilstein with a position-sensitive reserve tube.

As we said, Ford is already taking orders in Spain for the new Bronco, a genuine 4×4 that can be yours for a price starting from €86,900.
