The Ford Mustang GT3 created by Ford and Multimatic is already getting closer
The brand with the blue oval has just revealed its plans for 2024, when it will debut a GT3 version of its Mustang, which will make its debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona

With the new Ford Mustang Next Gen scheduled to appear in 2022 in the NASCAR Cup Series and the Mustang Gen 3 for the 2023 Supercars series, the American brand has just added to this list of anticipated launches with the racing variant of its new Ford Mustang GT3, whose plans Ford Performance has revealed.
This race car, which is our protagonist today, will be the result of the joint programme between Ford Performance and Multimatic Motorsports, a longtime partner of the oval brand that has already co-developed other models such as the Ford GT for Le Mans, the mighty Bronco DR and the Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1.
A great legacy behind it
As Mark Rushbook, global director of Ford Performance Motorsport, put it, “The Mustang was born to compete” since, if we review its history, it has 58 years of heritage in endurance racing such as NASCAR or Australian Supercars, so from Ford’s racing division they are ready to take the Mustang to the next level of performance with its new GT3.
Powering this machine, the new Ford Mustang GT3 will feature a 5.0-litre V8 engine based on the popular Coyote engine already developed by Ford Performance and built by the M-Sport team, which will be naturally aspirated but with certain performance modifications to compete with the best manufacturers in the world.

Prepared to the hilt
In addition to the aforementioned engine, the new Mustang GT3 will have a bespoke short-long arm suspension at the front and rear, a transaxle gearbox mounted at the rear, carbon fibre panels and an aerodynamic kit which, in addition to giving it a brutal presence, will allow it to enjoy improved aerodynamics.
That said, the new Mustang GT3 will be in development until the 2024 season begins, so Joey Hand, who was one of the winning drivers in the GTE Pro class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the Ford GT, will be one of those in charge of testing every last detail so that this machine is at the level needed to become one of the winners in the demanding GT3 category.
