The GWM ORA 5 is now available in Spain, here is its equipment and price

The Chinese brand GWM continues to steadily establish itself on European soil, and a good example of this is that its line-up is expanded with a new model, the ORA 5, which, as promised, can finally be ordered in Spain. This model supports the brand’s expansion efforts through a sales and service network in collaboration with local partners.

We first saw the new GWM ORA 5 at the end of last year, when the brand announced its plans to start selling this model in several European markets. As we saw at the time, it features a front end that is undeniably reminiscent of a certain German car. It is characterised by rounded volumes on the bonnet and wheel arches, a design that serves as a canvas for the front light cluster, while a rising waistline leads to a rear end where the rear lights are hidden.

For the interior of the GWM ORA 5, the design is based on the principle of an enveloping cabin with ample space for the five occupants it can carry, plus a boot with a capacity of 422 litres, expandable to 1,120 litres if the seats are folded down. The occupants will be surrounded by high-quality materials and a high level of equipment in either of its two available trims. The entry-level trim of the range, called Explore, includes, among other features, the following:

As for engines, the GWM ORA 5 arrives in Spain with a range of variants that cover practically any driver’s needs, starting with the conventional ICE engine, a 1,500 cc petrol unit delivering 160 CV and a torque of 270 Nm, managed by a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. With this configuration, the ORA 5 has a consumption of 6.9 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 158 g/km.

If you want to venture into the world of electrified driving, GWM lets you choose the ORA 5 in its HEV hybrid version, which uses the same engine as above combined with a 140 kW electric motor, achieving a combined output of 223 CV and a torque of 476 Nm. In this configuration, it has a consumption of just 5.1 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 117 g/km. On the other hand, there is the fully electric version, with an output of 204 CV and a torque of 260 Nm, linked to the SVOLT Short Blade LFP battery with a capacity of 58.3 kWh, which accepts a maximum fast-charging power of up to 120 kW, allowing it to go from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes. Its combined WLTP range is 435 kilometres.
