Xpeng L03: world premiere of the most affordable electric SUV from the Chinese manufacturer

With the L03, Xpeng demonstrates that it is possible to combine competitive pricing, solid performance and cutting-edge technology in the highly competitive European electric vehicle market.

At an event held in the German city of Munich, Chinese brand Xpeng has unveiled the L03, its most affordable model to date. With a starting price of €35,600, this SUV coupé positions itself as a competitive option against established rivals such as the Tesla Model Y, which starts at €40,990, or the Hyundai IONIQ 5, available from €41,900, offering greater power in its base version and a clear focus on efficiency and advanced technology.

The L03 measures 4.65 metres in length and stands out for its aerodynamic design, with a drag coefficient (Cx) of just 0.228, one of the best in its segment. It is available in several fully electric versions, all with LFP batteries. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive version with standard range is fitted with a 58.3 kWh battery that allows it to travel up to 445 km under the WLTP homologation cycle. The longest-range version reaches 520 km with a 71.2 kWh battery. For those seeking sporty performance, there is an all-wheel-drive option with 285 kW that accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. All versions have their top speed limited to 180 km/h.

One of the L03’s standout features is its charging capability. Although it uses a 400-volt architecture, this Chinese electric SUV supports up to 236 kW, allowing a charge from 20 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes and from 10 to 80 percent in 20 minutes. This places it among the benchmarks of affordable electric vehicles, where charging times are typically compromised. In addition, from autumn onwards a range-extended version (REEV) will be available from €38,600, combining a 37.25 kWh battery with a 1.5-litre petrol engine acting as a generator, offering a total range that will reach one thousand kilometres.

It Lacks Nothing

Also worth highlighting is the generous standard equipment, which includes heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, the XOPERA sound system, seven airbags and more than 13 driver-assistance systems under the XPILOT badge. Xpeng aims to achieve five stars in the safety tests carried out by Euro NCAP.

Inside the cabin, the L03 offers three screens, including a central 15.6-inch display and a panoramic head-up display. The Ultra version incorporates two Turing chips for powerful driver-assistance capabilities with the NGP system based on VLA 2.0, although for now in Europe it is limited to Level 2+ due to local regulations.

The distinctive way the Chinese manufacturer approaches the future

Under the slogan “The Future of Physical AI“, Xpeng presented in Munich its vision of an integrated mobility ecosystem. The brand seeks to create a common technological foundation for cars, humanoid robots and flying vehicles, all powered by its in-house-developed Turing chip and the World Foundation Model.

The first deliveries of the L03 in Europe will begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with a seven-year or 160,000 km warranty for the vehicle and an eight-year warranty for the battery.
