The hybrid variant arrives, along with a 4.0 TFSI, for the Audi A8

The flagship of Audi, the A8, has just expanded its engine range. An eco-friendly variant that combines a petrol engine with an electric motor, and a newcomer that will take the top spot as the high-performance option before the powerful S8 goes on sale next summer.
The Audi A8 Hybrid combines the advantages of a six-cylinder engine with the consumption of a small four-cylinder, making it the most efficient A8 in the range. It has five driving modes that can unleash the 245 CV hidden under its bonnet or give passengers an electrifying experience for 3 km. You decide.
The hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.0-litre petrol engine delivering 211 CV. The four-cylinder is complemented by an electric motor producing 54 CV and a maximum torque of 210 Nm. In total, the system’s combined output of 245 CV and 480 Nm delivers an official average consumption of 6.3 l/100 km. Excellent figures for a vehicle weighing over 1,870 kg.
The Audi A8 Hybrid has a top speed of 235 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.7 seconds. It will reach the Spanish market with a starting price of 83,400 euros, making it an eco-friendly and affordable alternative to diesel engines.
NEW 4.0 TFSI ENGINE
At the other end of the range, Audi has presented the successor to the 372 CV 4.2 FSI. A new 4.0-litre supercharged petrol engine that delivers 420 CV to all four wheels. It is not a newly launched engine, as we first saw it with the sporty Audi A6 and A7 range.
It features “cylinder on demand” cylinder deactivation technology, which reduces consumption during low-load moments on the accelerator pedal or when cruising at a steady speed. A new standard feature is that the 4.0 TFSI comes with 18″ lightweight alloy wheels as standard and the ANC active noise control system, which operates when the engine runs in four-cylinder mode only, improving the engine sound.
The Audi A8 4.0 TFSI quattro Tiptronic costs 104,490 euros, and 112,410 euros if you opt for the long-wheelbase version.
