The JAC iEV A50 is presented, a 100% electric Chinese vehicle with a range of 500 kilometres

A couple of years ago, Volkswagen announced that it had teamed up with the Chinese company JAC to design and manufacture a small electric SUV. Time has passed, and what we now find is that JAC has unveiled a fully electric compact saloon that will be presented at the Beijing Motor Show, which will be held in April. Its dimensions bring it closer to cars such as the Renault Megane four-door, with a length of 4,509 millimetres. Its width of 1,765 millimetres and its height of 1,490 millimetres. The wheelbase reaches 2,710 millimetres, which gives it a spacious interior.

But where we can find a strong argument is in the range this model offers. According to the brand, it will be capable of covering around 500 kilometres on a charge of its 60 kWh battery. In real-world figures, that distance is expected to drop to 400 kilometres, a distance that remains attractive.

This is not the only configuration available for the model. There will be another battery, with a capacity of 47 kWh, which will allow it to reach 330 kilometres on a single charge, at least in theory. In both cases, the battery is located under the rear seats and features a fast-charging system that enables it to reach 80% charge in just an hour and a half when connected to the mains.

The electricity goes to the front-mounted motor, from which it delivers 150 CV and allows the car to reach a top speed of 150 km/h. The exterior doesn’t hold many surprises, but it offers a current and modern design, without being overly spectacular, yet not dull either. Taking a look at the interior, we see that it uses a 10.4-inch touchscreen mounted vertically, as seen in models from Tesla, which gives it a distinctive touch.

As for the technology it features, it is worth highlighting a 360º camera, keyless entry and start, cruise control, a tyre pressure monitoring system and, at least at its presentation, touches of blue and aluminium, which together with the leather seats give it a fairly attractive look.
