The new Ford Fiesta Ecoboost 1.0, the most powerful production car with a 1.0 engine

The new Ford Fiesta EcoBoost 1.0-litre 140 CV is the most powerful production car with a 1.0 engine to date, with an even higher power per litre than a Bugatti Veyron or a Ferrari 458 Speciale.
This engine features an optimised calibration using a turbo and direct injection technologies with independent variable valve timing on the double overhead camshaft (Ti-VCT) to deliver 12 per cent more power, thus achieving a combination of good performance and efficiency. It also debuts with the new Fiesta Red Edition and Fiesta Black Edition models.

Its compact low-inertia turbo spins at up to 248,000 rpm, more than 4,000 times per second, almost double the rpm of the turbos in 2014 Formula 1 car engines, achieving a boost pressure of 2.6 bar.
The new turbo control calibration, Ti-VCT, internal cooling, wastegate control and ignition timing have increased power up to 140 CV and allowed a maximum torque of 180 Nm up to 5,000 rpm, helping to achieve a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 9 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h in the new Fiesta Red Edition and Fiesta Black Edition.
The engine also has an aluminium cylinder head with integrated exhaust manifold that reduces exhaust temperatures improving the air-fuel ratio. Engine friction is reduced by pistons with a special coating, low-tension piston rings, low-friction crankshaft seals and a lubricated timing belt design that allows greater fuel efficiency.

In addition to the Fiesta, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine is available in nine other vehicles: Focus, B-MAX, EcoSport, C-MAX and Grand C-MAX, Tourneo Connect, Tourneo Courier, Transit Connect and Transit Courier. It will also be incorporated into the new Mondeo this year.
Finally, the new Fiesta Red Edition and Fiesta Black Edition models with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost 140 CV engine go on sale at the end of this year.
