The long-awaited renewal of the all-electric Cayenne is now closer to its arrival, and it will be built at Volkswagen Slovakia’s facilities in Bratislava

Following in the footsteps of the Taycan, the Macan due in 2024 and the 718 due in 2025, the Cayenne will be the fourth model from the Stuttgart-based brand to feature a 100% electric drive system, marking a key moment in the history of this iconic model that once saved its brand from bankruptcy.

According to Porsche, production of the fourth generation of the Cayenne will take place at the multi-brand plant in Bratislava, where other models in the group are built, such as the Volkswagen Touareg, the Audi Q7, the Passat and Superb, or even the current Cayenne that is with us today. However, the upcoming new generation of Porsche’s SUV will become the first fully electric SUV to be built there.

The production centre since its origins

Since it was presented more than 20 years ago and having delivered no fewer than 95,640 units last year, the Cayenne has been the most successful model in the entire Porsche portfolio and has always been closely linked to Bratislava, as it has been built there since 2002.

Up until its third generation, when production was moved entirely to Bratislava, the Cayenne was also assembled in Bratislava, although its bodies were painted in Leipzig. Since then, this model has evolved continuously alongside the production plant, with versions offered with diesel and petrol combustion engines and plug-in hybrid drive systems.

More news from 2025 onwards

Albrecht Reimold, member of the Board of Management of Porsche AG and responsible for Production and Logistics, has also confirmed that the arrival of the new electric Cayenne will take place from 2026, and a year later we will see an SUV above the Cayenne, which everything suggests will also be a 100% electric model.

As for its details, no information of any kind has been confirmed yet, although we do know that the new Cayenne will be based on the PPE platform developed together with Audi, which is also used by other models such as the anticipated Audi A6 Avant e-tron or the upcoming Macan EV.
