The new Honda Civic Tourer will arrive in Spain in February

The Honda Civic Tourer will arrive in our country in February of next year, featuring some equipment updates, a styling based on the 5-door Civic and a new diesel engine, the 1.6 i-DTEC from the Earth Dreams series.

Honda will begin sales of the new Civic Tourer in February 2014 in our country, and it will also be the third Honda model in Europe to incorporate the 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engine from the Earth Dreams Technology series. Our team has been able to test it at its European presentation, but in the meantime we are revealing some details.

The 2014 Civic Tourer shares many of the features of the 5-door Civic, including the sporty front end. Likewise, it keeps the cabin design and the integrated door handle on the rear door of the 5-door Civic. The rear window glass extends to cover the structure of the D-pillar, and the rear door frame has been raised 17 mm compared with the 5-door Civic.

The interior of the Civic Tourer is similar to that of the five-door, with few changes. With the rear seats in their normal position, it offers 624 litres of boot volume up to the parcel shelf; it can accommodate three large suitcases with the parcel shelf removed. With the rear seats folded down, it offers 1,668 litres of space up to the roof. The fuel tank is located under the front seats.

The equipment will include the forward collision warning, which detects the risk of a frontal collision by recognising the vehicle (car or truck) travelling in the opposite direction using a multi-purpose camera. Other features will be the high beam assist system, which operates at speeds above 40 km/h and automatically switches the high beams on or off depending on the vehicles travelling in the opposite direction or ahead. It also adds the lane departure warning and the traffic sign recognition system, which uses the multi-purpose camera to detect road signs while the vehicle is moving; the system recognises and automatically displays the signs on the multi-information display once the vehicle has passed them.

Under the bonnet of the Civic Tourer, customers will find the new 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine or the 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine. The new 1.6 i-DTEC diesel is the first engine from the latest-generation Earth Dreams Technology series of Honda to be introduced in Europe, an engine also used in the latest CR-V and the 5-door Civic, and which in the Civic Tourer is homologated at a combined consumption of just 3.8 litres per 100 km.
