The Porsche 911 Turbo will have a hybrid powertrain in 2025
Porsche has unveiled its plans for the next 911 Turbo, featuring a hybrid drivetrain, with a motor designed to support the turbo and deliver more power.

We already know that Porsche is rethinking its entire strategy to fully transition to electric mobility. It has lowered its expectations of having all its models with electric motors by 2030, and is preparing several hybrid options as the market has just picked up speed and electric cars are achieving the expected boom in total vehicle sales.
The new Porsche 911 Turbo will begin production in the second half of 2025, and it has been announced that it will feature a hybrid drivetrain. In principle, this new generation of the 911 Turbo will use the same engine as the Porsche Carrera GTS, so there will be no option for a plug-in hybrid powertrain, only a traditional hybrid.

Among the details revealed by the German brand, the origin of the batteries to be used in the Porsche 911 Turbo, which the Carrera GTS already uses, stands out. These come from Varta, a company that saved Porsche from bankruptcy thanks to a 60 million euro injection last August.
This model cannot run in electric-only mode, and in reality it eliminates very few grams of polluting gases per kilometer. The motor is housed in the dual-clutch automatic gearbox and is responsible for making the turbo’s response much faster. With this motor, the torque increase is achieved in half a second instead of two seconds.

The combustion engine that equips the Carrera GTS and will also be the heart of the 911 Turbo is a six-cylinder boxer engine with 3.6 litres. It is paired with a large turbo, as it is assisted by the electric motor and improves response time. The total power of the system reaches 532 CV and a maximum torque of 609 Nm.
But from Porsche they assure that this engine will be tuned in the 911 Turbo and will feature greater power. This could indicate that the new model will be able to reach 600 CV, and that in the Turbo variant, so the Turbo S could have even more.
The new Porsche Carrera S
Another of the models announced for 2025 is the Porsche Carrera S. It will not feature a hybrid drivetrain and will offer a combustion engine. That said, the change of turbos it is equipped with will allow a power increase from 379 CV to 388 CV.
