The rear of the bare Mercedes-AMG GT in the new DriveClub screenshots

The reveal of the first glimpses of the upcoming Paris Motor Show is proving to be, at the very least, rather curious. Alongside the eccentric official events organised by manufacturers, such as the aerial display that Jaguar has arranged to present the XE next week, come the unplanned “unveilings” which, although common, sometimes surprise through the way they happen.
Last week, two scale replicas of the new Land Rover Discovery Sport relatively spoiled the surprise for the British manufacturer. This Tuesday, an engineer from the North American division of Mazda posted on the Miata.net forum some renders which he claimed were not official, but it then turned out that, apart from a few minor touch-ups, they showed the authentic design of the new MX-5. Mercedes-Benz has got ahead of the leaks and has decided to show the rear of its AMG GT in a video game.

This is DriveClub, one of the most anticipated driving titles for PS4, developed by the British studio Evolution Studios. The German brand is one of those with the greatest presence in this video game and has wanted to strengthen its collaboration by announcing that DriveClub players will be able to download for free the Mercedes-AMG GT during the first week after the title’s launch on 8 October.
Along with the press release, Mercedes-Benz and Evolution Studios have released four images of the vehicle. In them, part of the side and the entire rear of the AMG GT can be seen in the bare. As the camouflaged units had suggested, the bodywork will be characterised by a very elongated nose in the style of the SLS AMG and a more rounded rear with a much shorter overhang than that of the aforementioned sports car.

In the profile of the Mercedes-AMG GT, the side air intake stands out, in the centre of which a strip with some engraved logo can be seen, and the very wide haunches, as on the Porsche 911. As for the rear, the taillights are reminiscent of those of the S-Class Coupé, while the retractable spoiler and the rear diffuser evoke its predecessor more. Given that the DriveClub model has four exhaust outlets, it can be stated that it is an Mercedes-AMG GT-S.
