The Renault Captur 2020 will have a plug-in hybrid version
The new Renault Captur 2020, presented last July, will reach the market with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

After selling 1.5 million units in more than 90 countries over the last seven years, the Renault Captur has been revised. The second generation was unveiled last July and is now on the stand that the French brand has set up at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2019 for its public debut.
Brand new from the ground up, it has a modern yet evolutionary design that makes it look like a smaller Renault Kadjar. It is based on the CMF-B platform of the fifth-generation Renault Clio, which is designed for electrification. As a result, from next year it will also be offered with a plug-in hybrid propulsion system.
km/h.
“From 2020, the New Renault Captur will be the first in its segment to be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain,” said the brand’s CEO, Thierry Bollore. “We have developed a unique transmission system adapted to hybrid requirements, together with energy management technology derived directly from Formula 1. At Renault, we are committed to making technology and innovation accessible to our customers. This is our story, and this is our future.”
The future Renault Captur PHEV will use a 1.6-litre petrol engine and two electric motors. A 9.8 kWh battery will support it, giving it a fully electric range of 45 km at speeds of up to 135 km/h.

Other engines available for the Peugeot 2008, the Opel Mokka X and the rival Honda HR-V are the petrol engines TCe 100, TCe 130 and TCe 155, as well as the Blue dCi 95 and Blue dCi 115 diesel engines. However, whichever you choose, you will have to settle for front-wheel drive, as AWD is not even an option.
Renault should detail the trim levels and announce their prices shortly, as the Captur 2020 is expected to go on sale this autumn. “With the new Captur, we took the best and most acclaimed features of the Captur as our starting point. And then we pushed them further. We revolutionised the interior, transformed the body and made the Captur even more customisable. At Renault, we make quality of life on board an absolute priority. More quality, more technology, more SUV: the new Captur is 100% Captur and more,” added Laurens van den Acker, EVP Corporate Design Groupe Renault.

This second generation, based on the Alliance’s new modular platform, responds to “tomorrow’s mobility challenges by offering the best of technology in terms of connectivity with the Renault EASY CONNECT system, its connected services and its new EASY LINK multimedia system, driving aids with the Level 2 autonomous driving Highway and Traffic Jam Companion, and electrification with E-TECH Plug-In technology.
The silhouette is inspired by that of the current model, a line with a roof that extends and softens thanks to a progressive slope of the A and C pillars and a moderate height of the B pillar. But it is the very high lower window line, generously separated from the door handles, and a body raised above the ground, with a considerable gap between the tyres and the wheel arches, that improves its presence compared with its predecessor. A side line runs from the centre of the front wheel to the rear handle, flowing into a muscular rear wheel arch that invites you to look at the rear.
