The SEAT Ateca adds new engines to its range of 150 CV petrol or diesel versions

SEAT updates the 150 CV engines of the Ateca with greater displacement in the petrol option and with the addition of AdBlue in the diesel option

The SEAT Ateca range continues to expand, offering proposals for the tastes of any customer, with the latest addition to its line-up being a new 150 CV engine for those who prefer petrol as their fuel, while also updating its diesel twin with AdBlue technology. In this way the Ateca is completed with a wide range of engines which, in addition, will be combined with different transmissions and trim levels.

Starting with the diesel variant, we were able to test the previous version of the 2.0 TDI engine with 150 CV when we carried out its road test in the SEAT Ateca when we conducted its dynamic test, leaving us with a good impression thanks to its versatility, not only for its power and its 340 Nm that move this SUV perfectly, but also for its homologated consumption figures, which in combined cycle have been set at 4.7 l/100 km with the manual gearbox, or 5 l/100 km with the DSG automatic gearbox.

The novelty regarding this new diesel engine, known as the 2.0 TDI CR, is that it uses the AdBlue agent, which, together with the particulate filter and the catalyst, means this engine complies with the strict EU-6 emissions standard. Regarding the rest of the combinations available with this engine, everything remains the same, as you can still choose it with a six-speed manual gearbox or the seven-speed DSG automatic, with either front-wheel drive or 4Drive all-wheel drive.

However, the main novelty is found in the petrol engines, and covering the 150 CV range, we now have a 1,500 cc engine that replaces the previous 1,400 cc one. This new 1.5 EcoTSI engine, apart from keeping the same power and active cylinder management, delivers 250 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 3,500 rpm, and is described by SEAT as an engine with excellent dynamism yet easy to drive thanks to its strong pull at low and medium revs.

The new 1.5 EcoTSI engine can be chosen with a six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive, while if you opt for the seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox you can choose between front-wheel drive or 4Drive all-wheel drive. Consumption for the SEAT Ateca will be 5.5 l/100 km, 5.7 l/100 km respectively, and rising slightly to 6.5 l/100 km in the DSG 4Drive version; while, in the same order, CO2 emissions are set at 126, 129 and 149 g/km.

In this way, the SEAT Ateca engine range for the Spanish market comprises three petrol options: the 1.0 TSI with 115 CV, followed by the new 1.5 EcoTSI with 150 CV, and the 2.0 EcoTSI with 190 CV as the most powerful option. As for the two diesel options, the range is made up of the 1.6 TDI with 115 CV and the new 2.0 TDI CR with 150 CV.
