The SEAT León restructures its range and adds a new engine

The SEAT León simplifies its offering with a simpler trim range supported by equipment packs, in addition to replacing its petrol engine line-up

The SEAT León is one of the most popular vehicles from the Spanish brand, which now faces significant changes in order to make access to it even more advantageous for all customers who opt for this model. Those who visit a dealership of the brand in search of their new León will see that the range has been restructured with the aim of simplification, something that also applies to its combustion engines.

SEAT has sought to focus and simplify the León range on the two most in-demand trims of the Spanish compact, so that now only the Style and FR trims are available. Within the Style trim we already get a very interesting standard equipment list, which includes items such as the following:

  • EcoLED headlights
  • Lane departure warning (Lane Assist)
  • Autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection (Front Assist)
  • Cruise control
  • Emergency call system
  • Driver fatigue detector
  • 7 airbags
  • Wireless Full Link system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless smartphone charger
  • 8.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Sport multifunction steering wheel upholstered in leather
  • Automatic air conditioning

This trim, with an extra cost of just 250 euros, can be expanded and complemented with the Style XL pack, which includes, among other items, automatic parking assist (Park Assist), the Digital Cockpit instrument cluster (standard with GNC engines) and three-zone climate control.

The other available trim will be the FR, which, as you know, focuses on offering greater dynamism and sportiness to the SEAT León and, within its standard equipment, adds the previous items as well as the following:

  • Full LED headlights with infinite rear light
  • Adaptive Chassis Control
  • SEAT Drive Profile driving modes
  • 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Three-zone climate control

As with the previous trim, for an extra 200 euros we can expand the equipment with the FR XL pack, which adds Park Assist, rear-view camera, adaptive cruise control (ACC) with predictive function, automatic light assist, traffic sign recognition, blind spot detection, rear traffic alert system, or the passenger door opening warning system. We can complement it even further for an additional 400 euros with the XXL pack, which adds traffic jam assist and emergency assist.

SEAT, taking advantage of this range restructuring, has also confirmed that the León will receive new equipment packs named “XS” and “XM“, which will arrive soon. These packs will make the León even more accessible, with prices lower than the packs described above while still offering an interesting level of equipment.

At the mechanical level SEAT has also opted to simplify the offering, and this directly affects the petrol options, which now drops the 150 CV unit in favour of the 1.5 TSI 130 CV engine, a change that, according to the brand, responds to the higher and still growing demand for the latter. In this way, the SEAT León engine line-up consists of the 1.0 TSI 110 CV and 1.5 TSI 130 CV, both with manual gearbox; the 2.0 TDI 115 CV diesel with manual gearbox, or the 2.0 TDI 150 CV with manual or automatic gearbox.

The most environmentally friendly options remain unchanged, so the GNC 1.5 TGI 130 CV engine is still available, along with the petrol engines featuring mild-hybrid technology, the 1.0 eTSI 110 CV and 1.5 eTSI 150 CV, and finally the plug-in hybrid 1.4 e-Hybrid 204 CV version. All these engines are linked to the DSG automatic gearbox.
