MG Mulan, the brand's bet to win over the electric compact market
The Chinese brand plans to launch this electric compact in its home country and then strengthen its European lineup with it, offering a new option to the market.

The brand MG is gaining a very significant foothold in the European market since it was acquired by the Chinese multinational SAIC. In Europe it sells several models with electric and hybrid powertrains, led by the MG Marvel R. But it does not intend to stop there, and it is preparing its arrival with another model, an electric compact that aims to become a suitable choice for users of this type of vehicle.
Its launch is expected in Asia for now, under the name MG Mulan, taking the name of the warrior from Chinese legend. This could change when it reaches Europe, where the most likely name for the model will be MG 4. It will feature a five-door body and a length of 4.30 metres, and will sit in the C-segment of compacts on the market.

The Chinese company has worked on the exclusive platform for electric vehicles, called Nebula, designed to shape the brand’s electric-powered vehicles. What the company has not revealed are the specific characteristics of the model, so we have to settle for an approximation of them.
The basis on which the design of the MG Mulan rests is the concept model MG Maze. Its front end is quite aggressive, with sharp, aerodynamic shapes. The large front bumper and air intakes help to project that image. At the rear, that powerful image continues thanks to a double spoiler and horizontal Y-shaped taillights.

It is not a coupe, but the roofline imitates that style and gives it a sportier look than we might expect. We can say little more, even regarding its electric powertrain. This promises an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in about four seconds, which should make for quite agile mobility.
We also cannot yet show you images of the interior, although it is expected to have a fairly clean interior that relies on one or several screens instead of an abundance of physical controls. The brand will not be long in making all this information public, especially considering that it wants to reach the European market before the end of 2022.
The price, another of the unknowns surrounding this model, would be around 33,000 euros, with rivals of the stature of the Volkswagen ID.3, the veteran Nissan LEAF and even the CUPRA Born.
