The SERES 5 arrives in Europe with a semi-solid-state battery that guarantees a long service life
Semi-solid-state batteries are starting to arrive, although there are still few electric vehicles that use them. In Europe, the first one is the Seres 5

Battery technology is advancing very rapidly. And no wonder, because the year 2035 is much closer than we think, and by that year there must already be a technology that allows electric cars to become a reality for all manufacturers. Current batteries pose several problems, among them their service life.
So the arrival of semi-solid-state batteries is one of the most anticipated developments in the sector, because among their features is a very long service life without losing any range. One of the first models to use this technology is the Seres 5, a model arriving in Europe that represents the second model from the newly created Seres brand.

This model has a length of 4.71 metres, a width of 1.93 metres and a height of 1.62 metres. The wheelbase is 2.87 metres, figures that bring it very close to the best-selling car in the world, the Tesla Model Y. In fact, although there is a plug-in hybrid version in China, it will only reach Europe as an electric car.

Advanced equipment
As for the equipment in this model, we find two screens. The instrumentation is housed in a 12.3-inch screen, and there is also a Head-Up Display to show the main data so the driver can see everything clearly.
The information and entertainment system is spread across a 15.6-inch screen. There is also a panoramic roof, electronically adjustable front seats that are also heated, and a large range of driver-assistance systems.
Semi-solid-state battery
The battery fitted to this model in its top-of-the-range version uses semi-solid-state technology. It has a capacity of 90 kWh, which allows the car to travel up to 530 kilometres on a single charge under the WLTP homologation cycle. This battery offers a 100,000-kilometre warranty, so it has a long service life that makes travelling in the Seres 5 safer.

This battery means that the range is not compromised throughout all that use, and it withstands high charging rates. This battery is only available in the 4WD Flagship version, while the entry-level version, called 2WD, has a single 224 kW motor, equivalent to 300 CV.
The battery offered in this variant is LFP technology and has a capacity of 80 kWh, giving a range of 500 kilometres. The intermediate version, called 4WD, has dual motors that deliver 436 kW, equivalent to 585 CV. The battery in this case offers a range of 483 kilometres, although the brand has not specified the type of battery used in that variant.
For now, the price of this model in Spain is not known, but the price in Germany is, one of the first countries where it goes on sale. In that market, the Seres 5 2WD sells for 63,900 euros. In our country, the Invicta group will be responsible for marketing the brand.
