The Volkswagen Amarok debuts a new 250 CV V6 engine and expands its equipment
The Volkswagen Amarok stands out as a perfect alternative to SUVs, especially now that it updates its V6 engine to reach 258 CV and adds new options

That pick-up trucks are on the rise is no secret to anyone, not only as work tools, but also as a vehicle perfectly suited to everyday use like any passenger car. This is thanks to the good work of the brands that offer a pick-up in their range, taking advantage of the SUV boom to position them as a valid alternative to these, thanks to greater technological equipment, quality finishes and improved engines.
Of all the pick-up trucks available in our market, perhaps the Volkswagen Amarok stands out most in this regard, especially thanks to its powerful V6 engines, making it the perfect alternative for those looking for an SUV but with a clear rural and leisure orientation. This is where Volkswagen wants to stand out with the Amarok, and to do so it introduces an engine and equipment update that takes the best from the prototype that could be seen at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Volkswagen Amarok is a pick-up truck that stands out for its angular, muscular lines, and now this latest update to its already powerful V6 engine will make that strength even more noticeable. The engine now adds 34 CV over the standard version, reaching 258 CV and a torque figure of around 550 Nm. It is paired with the DSG automatic gearbox with dual-clutch and eight speeds, as well as the 4Motion system to distribute its power to all four wheels.

The engine will not be the only novelty introduced by Volkswagen on the Amarok, as in terms of equipment it also adopts another solution used on the prototype presented in Frankfurt: the Roll Cover system. The Roll Cover system is simply a new retractable cover, or roller shutter as it is commonly known, for the load bed with a surface area of 2.52 square metres, offered in silver aluminium finish, allowing belongings to be kept safe from thieves.
It will not be the only new feature, as there is also the option to fit elements in titanium black for the Highline and Aventura versions. It is precisely in this latter version that the 20-inch Talca wheels will be offered, in Dark Graphite with a glossy surface; the exclusive Peacock Green metallic paint, available for the first time on this model, which joins the matte Indium Grey and Ravenna Blue paints that give it a different touch.
To enjoy the new 258 CV V6 TDI engine we will have to wait until August, when sales will begin at a price of 46,060 euros, excluding taxes or dealer discounts.
