The Volkswagen Polo BlueGT makes its debut in our market

The well-known Volkswagen Polo now gets active cylinder management, a system debuted on the new Golf 7. All of this has been incorporated into the new variant that the German manufacturer has presented in Spain, the Polo BlueGT.

The active cylinder management system involves selectively deactivating two of the four available cylinders, in the case of the Polo the second and third, when power demand is low. This translates into a fuel consumption reduction of around 0.4 l/100 km under low and medium load conditions, and at a constant speed of 50 km/h in third or fourth gear, consumption drops by as much as 1.0 l/100 km.

The Polo BlueGT is powered by the 1.4 TSI engine producing 140 CV, which can be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG. Performance figures include a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h.

Standard equipment includes 17-inch “Qubak” alloy wheels, a roof spoiler, modified bumpers (with a rear diffuser), side skirts and a chassis lowered by 15 mm. The interior features an enlarged multifunction display, which includes ACT indicators and tyre pressure monitoring, the “Tempomat” cruise control, as well as sports seats and air conditioning. The standard safety kit includes ESP, front and side head-thorax airbags, electro-hydraulic power steering and the XDS electronic limited-slip differential.
