This is the Nissan Caravan My Room, a "factory-built" motorhome available only in Japan
Nissan has prepared this van to enjoy free time, nature and holiday moments with a finish reminiscent of a luxury hotel.

The market for motorhomes keeps growing worldwide. They are highly functional vehicles that offer space to sleep and live inside the very vehicle you travel in. Camper vans are the “little sisters” of motorhomes, and many companies specialise in converting vans into campers to enjoy them on holidays and in leisure time. But sometimes, it is the manufacturers themselves who offer finished vehicles of this type, ready to fulfil their purpose.
Nissan offers the Caravan My Room van, ready for travelling and sleeping in, straight from the factory. There is no need to take it to a company to convert it; it is sold ready to use for holidays and weekends. The most curious thing about this converted van is that the rear section, devoted to accommodating its occupants, has finishes that recreate a fairly comfortable hotel room.

The Nissan Caravan My Room van is based on the Caravan and was marketed as a launch version, but its success has allowed it to become a permanent fixture in the brand’s range. It is based on the long body and standard width of the Caravan, with the roof also in standard dimensions. It measures 5,080 millimetres in length, which allows a large interior suited to its purpose.
The exterior is typical of this kind of van, with black steel bumpers and wheels, a colour shared with the door handles, the grille, the exterior mirror caps and other elements. Buyers can choose between five body colours, designed to project an image that is friendly to nature. To complement the exterior look, there are two stickers on the side windows reading “My Room – Into the Nature“.

NISSAN CARAVAN MY ROOM
Comfortable and luxurious interior
Where this model offers a significant difference over similar ones is at the rear. To shape it, they looked to a room in a luxury hotel. The walls, floor and ceiling are covered in wooden strips, which give it a very special touch.
The modular furniture allows for a living room, a bedroom or a dining room depending on the needs of the moment. This is very different from the modest cargo space offered by the standard model. The windows are shielded from outside light by slatted curtains and blinds. The second row of seats can become a comfortable sofa and can be used together with the folding table.
For sleeping, it can be fitted with a two-piece folding bed and another with a simpler raising mechanism. To power the electrical equipment, recycled batteries from the Nissan Leaf are used, which allow it to perform its function without problems when there is no connection to the mains electricity supply.

Engines of the Nissan Caravan My Room
The engines available in the Nissan Caravan My Room are a 2.0-litre QR20DE petrol unit, naturally aspirated and producing 129 CV and 178 Nm of torque. Alternatively, there is the 2.5-litre 4N16 diesel engine, of Mitsubishi origin, which delivers 130 CV and 370 Nm of torque.
Both engines are paired with a seven-speed automatic gearbox. As for traction, the petrol version only has rear-wheel drive, while the diesel version can be fitted with four-wheel drive.
The price of this model on the Japanese market ranges from 5,516,500 yen (approximately 35,000 euros) to 6,855,200 yen (44,000 euros, at the current exchange rate). Unfortunately, Nissan has no plans to take this converted van outside the local market, although we would love to see it on the roads and countryside of Europe, wouldn’t we?
